What do you want to have on Bushcraft UK?

I'm coming late to the party. Sorry.

I enjoy posting on BCUK. But I don't start discussions very often because of the restrictive posting policy. I often write articles for other publications and websites. I sometimes try to start a discussion of a skills-related topic and link to an article I've written. On these occasions, moderators or others have copied the entire text of the article into the discussion. This violates the copyright of the website or publication running the article.

As a result, I rarely start threads on BCUK anymore. I know I would enjoy the discussions, but I can't contribute when the forum violates the copyright of the publishers that employ me.

Are the links to articles that are free to read or is a subscription needed? If subscription is needed to be able to read I personally despise links to those.

I am guilty of being an introvert lurker for several reasons, despite being a member for years.
1. I don’t get out so much anymore due to deterioration in my physical health/ability,
2. family and work pressures meaning I have little properly free time

So I sort of feel I don’t have a huge amount of stuff to contribute but like living vicariously through others posts, I have also consciously tried to reduce my ‘idle internet browsing’ time in the evenings.

BUT I do continue with my leatherwork, I do venture out now and again but it’s usually just a walk or ‘tea on the tailgate’ which I am not so sure others would be interested in!
I should make more effort to post photos of my leatherwork I think.

Also, most of the stuff I want to know about there is a thread on already so I just read it but don’t post.

In short I don’t know, but this forum has out-lasted many others and keeps drawing me back for whatever reason.

I don't quite understand where you're coming from. The posts of yours with linked articles that I've seen (such as the one on 12 bushcraft knives you should own) maintain the direct link to your website. Personally I could understand if they limited the direct link to other websites that make money out of footfall; most of us provide material and advice for free. If you really don't like the way BCUK links to your site then stop using it as a way of directing people to it!

I don't see any reverse links to BCUK from NatureOutside

I’d proudly sport a BCUK patch on my bag.
Me too. I’d also use a BcUK lanyard.

Trouble is that patches, badges and lanyards etc. need to be made in quantity and someone needs to organise, approve, deal with suppliers and distribute.

Given my perception of the forum I think we’d need to accumulate a sufficient number of pre-orders to make them viable.

……. unless someone knows someone with a programmable sewing machine.
