They vary :)

Edited to add:

They seem to be selling at £105 - £130.

If that’s so then that’s quite a haul you have there!

Thanks, don't think I've seen that site before, will have a good look.

I would be shocked if they are selling for that much.

I've been given four of them, one of them, you can probably see from the photo, the fuel tank threaded part is bent. The threads themselves are fine, I think it will be easy to straighten.

At the market, yesterday morning, I bought three green ormers. The fishmonger had four out on ice on his stall; I told him that there would be three of us for supper so I'd want either three or six, but he didn't have another two so I came away with three and he was left with just one lonely ormer.

This is, I think, the only time I've ever seen them for sale. The fishmonger told me that there are strict rules concerning the size, the season and the numbers that can be harvested, so while they're not excessively expensive they are still somewhat rare.

How do you think you’ll prepare/serve them? I’ve never seen them before.

They're apparently quite tough; the fishmonger said he would cut them from the shells and pound the flesh to tenderise it. He advised frying in butter and chopped parsley for 90 seconds each side. They were perfect, tasty but not a strong flavour and tender.

I would think so too.

Ormers and their ilk are a popular food creature, but like limpets they are all suction cup.

Limpets are tough.

The old Manx ate limpets, they used to mince them up and mix with milk and make into a patty and fry.

That sounds pretty nice even to the Mollusca averse me, Im sure it would work for ormers
