This is what I thought I would be receiving today, looked forward to with, not a little anticipation.

This is what I received! (Páramo’s eBay outlet). Another small badge on the front saying: Western Power Distribution.
It’s not even an Alta 2, as per the description. Waiting to hear what they’ve got to say. Actually, as it’s a tad too roomy, at least I won’t be paying return postage, although it would be nice if they said to keep it- evidently, from what I’ve read, unlike Gortex et al, sewing holes don’t mess with its waterproofing, so the badges could be safely removed. Probably wishful thinking though. They must have had a contract with Western Power to supply them with badges on, as it still has the tags on it.

Jesus! Hopefully just a mistake, although the labels aren't exactly small. Maybe they are pre folded in their plastic bags and the wrong one posted by mistake?


There's nothing worse than the excitement of a new piece of kit only for it to not arrive or the wrong item arrive.

This is their somewhat disingenuous “explanation“:

Hello This jacket is an Alta as detailed in title it is new stock produced and badged for western power and not required. Many apologies the Badging should have been removed. If you do wish to keep the jacket it can be returned to our workshop and have the badges removed. If you are not happy as you have indicated please make the return through eBay under item not as described the postage will be covered and return tracked. This jacket was sold in our discounted aged stock.

As I pointed out to them, the full description said it was an Alta 2, the image shown was an Alta 2 so what they say is wrong, plus it said it was brand new with tags, not a “de-badged” coat with potentially damaged water proofing. Very tellingly, despite it saying there were 16 more in stock, the item has been delisted. Not impressed with them at all to be honest. Anyway, apologies for de-stressing on here!

This cook book arrived today, I have a great many Indian cook books, but got to say, this is the most comprehensive. I lived in India for 5 years, this has pretty much all the different dishes I enjoyed, from a great many regions. Not cheap, but if you want to get serious about Indian cuisine, this has it all.

I got a copy of Maybees Flora Britannica for 50p in a bargain basket in the British Heart Foundation.
