It's a small 90x90 canvas tarp. I'll use it for putting up ridgelines too.

A mess... let me explain..
We seldom use our front door which is situated (offset) within a 6'x3' 'vestibule'. This area has of late become a dumping ground for all my tools, decorating stuff, odds n sods etc (leaving access to the door for emergency purposes of course).
I've decided to turn the 3'x3' portion into a work/craft area into which I can fit my jewellers bench, a stool, and shelving above to hold some of my most required tools and one or two other bits such as my meat grinder, sausage stuffer, bacon slicer etc. So everything has been pulled out and stacked none too neatly in the living room while I
A: Give the area a good clean
B: Decorate it
C: Build the shelving (out of some lovely reclaimed oak flooring)
D: Decide what's going on the shelving and which can go upstairs into the loft.
The house currently looks like a bombs hit it, oh well, should be back to normal by next weekend hopefully

I was curious about this kolrosing that @Wayland mentioned in another post, so I thought I'd test it out on a bit of antler.
It was only a very quick test, so not a particularly inspiring design, just wanted to see how it works. When I get more time, I'll try something a bit more involved.
On a side note, the smell of cinnamon and beeswax together is pretty good.

Looks pretty authentic to me. It suits it.
Finaly got the new raised bed 99% finished. Just need topsoil, and trim the corner stogs, and I'm ready for more planting.
I repaired the lid on one of the compost bins, using an old pine board that had probably hanging around since before we bought the house.
Tomorrow I'll make a completely new lid for the second compost bin, but for that I want to buy new wood and strap hinges. The new lid will be much better than the original.
Well, I got the lid made (and liberally coated with linseed oil) but didn't find any strap hinges at the shop, so ordered some marine grade stainless steel hinges and a box of 200 5mm x 50mm Torx head stainless steel screws. I installed the hinges today.

Oh thats good. Its simple but somehow looks authentic to me.
Whole load of silly antler bits hanging around at work...keep on meaning to make toggles/buttons with them.
Made a herb pot for my friend jenny, parsley sage rosemary and thyme, just need to add chives, which i cant get untill wednesday, and that's finished. Also planted a tumbling Tom in a spare hanging basket, and a pot of mint for her. She's just had spinal surgery so gardening is out for a while, but a few pots will brighten up her front door.
Much more useful than a bunch of flowers.
Only managed to get one bag of topsoil, so the big bed is only half ready for planting up. Was hoping to get it totaly finished this weekend. Oh well.

After a long and hot week, found some time to sit on the decking and whittle a little whistle out of a piece of birch. It's got a nice tone.
I didn’t know you could buy a Zebra pot with metal clips. They weren’t originally cooking pots at all. They are Thai lunch pails. If you are walking through Bangkok in the rain season you need the lid clipped on safe. The place stinks of sewage. I have two pairs of the plastic clips in my “bits jar“ I have no idea why I’m keeping them.
Yes you can buy them, some come with naff plastic clips which melt or fall off. The ones I made are as good as the bought ones. I used the video you told me about x
I made two protective ' sleeves ' for my new paddle strops, I made them out of artist's canvass and evil-stick glue. They are not at all pretty but they're tough and they'll do for now, the main thing being my strops are protected from other stuff in my tool bag
I decided to treat myself for my 81st Birthday at the end of July, so back in the early Spring I booked myself onto a canoe making course, which I completed a few days ago.
Quite hard work actually, well, in temperatures of 30 C plus at the time, it was anyway. A long journey from where I live in the wilds of Wales to Eastern England.
Marking out from Patterns prior to cutting.
The old stitch and glue method using wire has been superseded by using Cable Ties.
Looking a bit Canoe..ish
Heat bent Ash Gunwales screwed and glued. 4 mm Marine Ply sides, 6 mm MP bottom
Larch seats in situ. I oiled them with a Danish type oil.
Outside, frying gently in the sun and planing and sanding..sanding..sanding..
All seams inside and out, filled and fibre glass taped and the first of three coats of Epoxy applied.
I had been practising picking it up from the grass, hence the bits of dead grass on the sides. Brushed off easily. Weighs 29 Kilos so quite light, I can pick it up easily and load it onto my van.
Home safely after 7+ hour drive. Someone please Nuke the M5 for me...
