In truth it was got to power my Telescope mount / mini PC in the field. USB and clean 12v being the main point. {not 14v from car battery}
Will work for a camp I think!

Another old 2D cell maglite for £2.
The bulb had gone, and the charity shop was about to dispose of as useless as" you can't get the bulbs anymore"
I opened the bottom up and lo! The spare bulb was in place under the spring. I said nothing and offered two quid, which was accepted.
Down to my mate at the gun shop, and an led conversion is on order.. back home, I switched out the old bulbs, and it's working just fine, just waiting for the upgrade to arrive now.
I already have one i got under similar circumstances a few years back, and made the upgrade to. So now I have a backup.
Good result. Light and self defence in one.

Tell me more about the conversion please!
It's just a plug in . If you go online and type in maglite led conversion it will come up. Just make sure you get the right one for whatever torch you have. I have a 2×D cell. Like one of those old police torches.
If I can manage to do the conversion, anyone can!

Today I was persuaded buy a guy called Alex from Hammer and Hound forge, at the re-enactors market in Coventry to buy a rather unusual bushcraft knife. What makes it different is a canted handle. Whatever, there are some things you can put in your hand and it just feels right.

A copper spirit stove to go with my copper Fondue pot.

I never fondue.

And a Art Nouveau horn necklace from France. (I justify this as part of my collection of hornware, -and its the first one I have bought of this famed genre.)

320Whr power pack £125 from Temu from a UK warehouse
Only used it for little jobs so far but it is a well made "brick" with many nice touches. Comfortable handle so carting around is easy ( allowing for it weighs a ton but it is a battery)
Has a 240v output that will power a laptop.
USB out, both 2 and 3 so will power/recharge all manner of stuff.
2 * 12v 2.1mm output with high current output.
It can be recharged via mains (PSU supplied), USB C and a 12v input i.e. car or solar panel.
Spoilt for choice.
It seems there are a few different models out there both 155W and 320W and differing prices. Mine was posted as £139 then temu gave as £14 rebate unasked !!
I had made myself a power box with 2 motor bike batteries, this is lighter and more versatile.
