Positive news

  • BushMoot: Come along to the amazing Summer Moot 31st July - 5th August (extended Moot : 27th July - 8th August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Also reached my weight loss goal for the year, 32kg (just over 5 stone) down and back comfortably within the healthy BMI range again. I suppose a shout-out is owed to my last minute sponsor Influenza for losing that last kilo...
Thats Massive...

I mean , in a good way :) Seriously well done. Have a mince pie to celebrate. Or not.

That went well!!!!!!

I expected the Tesco pick up to take hours but it was one of the quickest that I’ve done.

Telford is famous for traffic lights and roundabouts. I had a straight run - green all the way there and back.

Tesco was wonderfully efficient:
Dedicated parking space available and The Tesco internet wasn’t working! As I arrived a real live person checked who I was and went straight in to collect my heap. I was gone with four carrier bags of veg and fruit in well under ten minutes. Didn’t join the queue at Boots - I’ll manage without meds - and didn’t join the queue of cars trying to get into Wellington - so I didn’t get to the “gym“.
(This has become a term for the Masova bakery - some of the best coffee in town and purveyor if the gooiest cakes that don’t resist a blunt wooden fork.)

Back home for cocoa!
Happy day thus far.

My wife and I are now past a couple of weeks of flu and should be able to drive down to the rest of the family for a few days starting Christmas Eve. We are incredibly behind with everything, but getting time with family is the important thing!

Well done on the weight loss! It was a go of Flu started my weight loss journey ... sometimes being ill is a positive thing :)
My positive news is that I have finished sewing a new wool shirt and a pair of linen trousers (bar hemming the legs - that needs to be done after a wash to be sure they do not shrink short) AND BOTH FIT! despite my not having used my home made patterns for a while ... so my figure has not changed too much since I stopped calling my food intake "my diet plan" and called it "normal eating :)

What a wonderful Boxingday Morning.
A proper hard frost lit by silver sunlight.
Icy air that was more like drinking than breathing.
Dragon smoke breath.
A real bite to finger tips and ear lobes.

Then back home for a Christmas Dinner Leftovers butty - the very finest of the butty ilk.

I just scored 99% in the ultimate preppers quiz. I could have done even better if I was an actual prepper. xxxx
https://prepare2thrive.com/quiz the link is here. If you do it keep a track of your own score. it tells you at the top. If you wait to the end and press what was my score you get 404 not found xxxx

Can I add more heart warming joy that Oldham Athletic just won away with a 96th minute winner. The holidays were relaxing. I am grateful to all you lot on here for helping and answering all my questions and right now there are millions of acts of random kindness being carried out which balances the life force somewhat. xxxx

After the cold snap we've had this week I have all but burned through about half of my dried wood pile and was starting to make mental plans to get ready to cut down some new wood so that it can be thoroughly dried out ready for next winter. Then as if by magic just hours later on the very same day my prayers were answered. By pure coincidence one of my neighbors has just had two very large trees professionally cut down and chopped up with all the bits just lying there on the side of the road ready to be taken away. So I've filled my boots (car boots that is) and nabbed all of the 1" to 4" diameter branches which are an ideal size for my needs. They've were even pre-cut length ways to be just the right size which fits perfectly in the boot of my car with the seats folded down and in the wood drying shed at the stables.

I'm well chuffed I can tell you. :D
