If you read them in order you'll see Terry Pratchett's writing style develop and his humour change a little

I’ve read they can be a cause of lead poisoning, particularly with long term use.An Afghan Kazan, a charity shop find, unboxed but brand new. It was cheap enough to justify buying it even if I only use it a couple of times and as I generally take the Kadai and tripod away with us when we go camping I thought I'd give it a try.
Thanks for the heads up, but to be honest it probably won't get enough use to warrant getting worried about it.I’ve read they can be a cause of lead poisoning, particularly with long term use.

My daughter has recently started collecting 1950s to 1980s ceramic and glass table and kitchen wares. She told me about researching the lead content of the glazes, so I got her some lead detecting swabs from Amazon; you might be able to use these on aluminium, too.I’ve read they can be a cause of lead poisoning, particularly with long term use.

She might also invest in a Geiger counter as well. Uranium was used as a colouring/brightening agent in some 20th century glasswareMy daughter has recently started collecting 1950s to 1980s ceramic and glass table and kitchen wares. No worries - I saw some recently in a shop, they look rather mental, looks more weapon than crueset, the lead thing put me off. Thanks for the heads up, but to be honest it probably won't get enough use to warrant getting worried about it.
Possibly me too. The Spitfire kits are superb value. They get mentioned a fair bit, don’t let TeeD get all rosy glowy about itI can’t remember who suggested Polymath Products, but an idle surf around their website has resulted in a smallish spend. They do seem to specialise in those small things that will be really useful when out and about…….
I like the disk world books a lot but less so the non diskworld books. There’s a certain joy to be had when you find one nestled on the bookshelf of a charity shop. Though even with diskworld they can feel somehow tired or stretched out compared to the beginnings. Still class though, and you can feel Pratchetts humanity coming out through his writing. He had some more useful things to say than some “serious” writers.Pterry does develop as an author, though it takes a few books for his style to develop.
Mort, I feel is the first one. (The third)
But dont let that put you off of The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic; they are wonderful in their own ways.
My favorite is Interesting Times, which I feel is also the weakest. He does not `get` the Orient, and so humour which could be funny comes out slightly more bigoted. (Compare it, to, say, The Last Continent which is full of silly, playful humour which comes out as it is intended; affectionate fun).
I think we can safely state that bigotry is one of Pterrys bugbears...but there is such a thing as unconscious bigotry.
Sold out now but restocking in a few weeks. I used to like Wrights Coal Tar soap until I found out it’s not real coal tar, evidently they found it it was carcinogenic. This sounds really nice though, a similar..ish scent. I’ll have to get some if it’s the same price. I like Aleppo soap and Marseille soap, both made from olive oil, I think Marseille soap got royal protection in 15 or 16 something and Aleppo soap’s the oldest continuously made soap, although the Syrian war has meant it’s now mostly made in Turkey by Syrian refugees.A prop for my washing line,
And three bars of pine tar soap.
(Coopers of Stortford catalogue, but you can order online £12. 99.)
I know some time back, a few people wanted to know where to get it, so I thought I'd let you all know. Last time I bought any it was £8.00 a bar, so this seems to be a bargain.
