Or perhaps folk realise after using one that it's not a good axe? That was my conclusion anyway

or you dont really need an axe for UK Bushcraft really a big knife is more all round useful okenest:

mine are home firewood use Big Maul for logs in the log shed cheap hatchet for Kindling in the fire bucket and a big felling axe from the father-in-laws garage thast not really got a use hanging in the workshop cleaned and sharpened

tho i do have a GB carving axe as a luxury Item

no real use for a mid size Axechet

Sounds like you could do with a semi serrated axe. That way you can do everything with just one tool.
