Well, I don't want to sound too pesimistic, but the nights are drawing in, there's nothing but rubbish on the telly, so I'm starting to try to think of projects to keep me sane ( :lmao: ) of the coming winter evenings. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this possition.
So, how about we put together a list of nice little projects to while away the darker nights?

I'll kick it off with:-

Birch bark containers.

Cedar strip boxes.

Knife storage roll - for those of us who "might" have more than 1 knife ;)

Egg box firelighters.

Stockpile of Feather sticks - for when I run out of the above.

That's all I can think of for now so it's over to you good people.

here's a few:

- properly profile your hatchet (ala "OldJimbo method")
- customize a few mora's (ala "swedish fast knife" style)
- make a primitive fishing kit (bone, wood or thorn hooks, cordage, etc)
- make yourself a fire piston
- learn how to knap using beer bottle bottoms (web search it) and techniques via youtube, "bohunter" (just found this bloke last night, tops!)

There, that should keep you busy for a month or two.....

My list will include:
  • Carpet hall
  • Re-decorate bedroom
  • Insulate the loft

but my wish list would include:

  • Fire by friction
  • More forge-work
  • Improving my knife making
  • Improving my leatherwork

Maybe a mixture of both lists may happen!

Cheers,
Steve

Add to first list:
  • Plaster the spare room
  • Fit new front door
  • Shop for baby products
  • Build wall in the back garden
  • Prepare fireplace for wood burner

The list goes on.........although the last one could belong to the second list :)

I have a wish list as long as my arm!

Lol yes, my first project is earning money, my second project is buying christmas presents for all the kids in my family.
I might try out some christmas recipes. I was very fond of the home made paint strippers going round at the midlands meet, I might try some of them. Though I wont eat the cherries out of them and make a mess.

my winter seams to be getting more and more busy with each passing minuet lol. I have a few frames I have to make for a couple of art projects (all hand made and decorated) the sketches to go with the frames, the usual practice of various skills (mostly firelighting and shelter building as I've let them get a little rusty the last few months*shame*) then there's the general everyday stuff, plus hopefully building a new forge so I can get back to making knives and other tools that I can't afford to buy at this time
