I was going to stay at home and put the money towards a nice funeral but I've decided to live a little instead. Only 3 more sleeps! :p

Me :sigh: I'm hoping next year though :)

Tbh, I think if we could find a site where well socialised and family friendly dogs could be part of things, I don't think most of us would mind.

Tell you though, there are some very poorly trained dogs (and children around dogs) these days. Y'know ? there's a workshop in itself :)

atb,
M

Personally I'm amazed that kids are allowed in places that dogs aren't.:) Apart from personal preference the behaviour standards are generally higher amongst the four legged ones over the two.

But I'll shut up now, and Mary you raise a good point, kids and dogs workshop sounds like a good idea.

You couldn't be more right, Mary - There are dogs and people all about the place that never have any socialisation of any sort, and it's mainly because of that that it's often impossible for those with dogs to participate fully in all the events they would like to; and a very easy, short workshop or training day is extremely effective in remedying the situation. It surely isn't rocket science! There are many people around with experience in these things who would give some time to this, me amongst them, if there was a call for it in the future.................

I'm not going - just too many people for me. I know I'm odd though and hope those who are going have a fab time :)

I am not going. My son has sponsored walk with army cadets for 4 days that finishes on the saturday, and I need to be there when he finishes. My mentally unbalanced cat needs feeding and reminding not chew his own tail off, the ferrets also need feeding cuddling and mucking out. The little girlie is not quite old enough to be left on her own with responibility for the animals and is having a 16th birthday party by camping in the back garden that weekend. I think I might creep out for 24 hrs and do a foragers walk about instead.

Woodstock is going down on friday, he will bring some midge repel and bug oil.

I went to the Bushcraft Show this year which allows dogs and I took mine. There were plenty of them and plenty of children and I didn't see one single problem. I would love to bring him to the Moot.

Here Here to that, if i had brought the family along to the moot it would have cost me an arm and a leg in kennel fees lol. Still im sure there are other reasons to just kids being there that gave rise to the rule

I would love to, but am not. I live in Western Canada. If someone would like to gift me the money for airfare and such, I'd be eternally grateful, and I might even stay on for a few months paying off my debt to you through labor and helping around... ;)
...well, it was a long shot. :p
Cheers

The no dogs rule is the site's one, not BcUK's idea. That's why the Boss can't do anything about it.

cheers,
M

Sorry Mary, I knew that and wasn't having a go. I think the job you guys do putting it all together is amazing. I fact I say three cheers for Tony and the MODS.

All the best,
Colin.

No worries :) I know I don't think I'd be happy to leave a dog at home either. Sometimes though it just doesn't work out.

Yes, I knew that so wasn't having a go at Tony or anyone else on here. Just trying to make the point that it is possible to do these kind of events with dogs AND children.

One of the best things about the moot is a woodland environment free from dog eggs. :lmao:

I met one of the failed guide dogs....Fergus....he was the supervisor's own pet and great uncle to the last pup we had. He stood, and I jest you not, over four feet high :yikes: He put his paws on my shoulders and straightened up to over six feet tall.
He failed because he was too friendly; he stopped to talk to every person he met  :D instead of focusing solely on his owner.
Lovely dog though, curly coated retriever mix with another water hound of some kind iirc.
