Yet to read. Might have a look this weekend though... if I can keep the focus.I've not. How is it? Or yet to read?
Nice pictures. Can you tell us what they are please if you know. I think I got some of them. DD xxxFollowing the theme of wildlife thread…
What mushrooms/fungi did you spot? I had a great day in the woods today for it. Found a decent sized (but sadly demolished) Penny Bun, some Bay Boletes, blushers, brown roll rim and various others. Bay boletes were mostly too small to forage so I’ll pop back in a few days I think.
Do you know what they all are. I know some of them but unclear on others, thanks. DD xxxxx
A few on a similar theme from our fields and woodland.
Hazel gloves, found in our bit of rainforest.

Very much look like it. Right shape, right caps (white band around the edge) and the white reticulation on the stipe.I haven’t, but Merlin is a regular visitor to Petworth Park and does walks and talks. The Sheldrake family are a delight of esoteric eccentric thinkers, his father Rupert being a wonderful example.
I found these Bellend boletes today, are they Ceps?

As long as the flesh is white and doesn't stain a colour, they're ceps.
It looks like Silverleaf Fungus, which I’m afraid isn’t good news for your birch. Probably worth a double check, though!Found a large patch of gorse hosting some oyster mushrooms last year, so took a chunky branch home to add to the mushroom farm. Had a look today and noticed it's fruiting.

Not identified this one yet. It's spread up to about 7ft on one of our birch trees.

You're right. Going to have to deal with it as it's quite close to a lot of our wild plums and an apple. It looks like Silverleaf Fungus, which I’m afraid isn’t good news for your birch. Probably worth a double check, though!

Yeah, it is a shame. Unfortunately the tree is looking pretty run down though and is right next to an apple which is in desperate need of a prune this winter. What a shame, and the fungus is such a cool looking one. Still, hopefully the tree will be able to provide some warmth this winter, it’s nice that birch burns well without seasoning at least.
