We used to do that with our mittens back in the 70's so we didn't lose them.

Great time of year is ‘mitten weather’ :)

Hestra do an elasticated wrist cuff to achieve the same aim. More comfortable and convenient than a string through your coat sleeves in my experience.
String is probably still best for small kids though!

I think that all of my ski jackets have attachments in the cuffs for tethering gloves or mittens.

And all my ski gloves and mittens have elastic loops for tethering.

Reminds me; I have to put some kind of marker on my thinsulate gloves.

Two different sizes but my Dad will mix them up with his.

On the Shraftin kit front i Just pulled the trigger on a a HelikonTex Pilgrim Smock and Trousers, lucky ole me had two whopping great Amazon vouchers having signed up to a new broadband package so that was good ( insert smiley emoji )

On a non Shraftin front 7 new interior doors, a bathroom window and vintage Bakelite door knob ha ha

A gigantic ball of jute twine.
Why? I see a bit of rope making, (natural ridge line for my plastic free kit) tinder, and I'll have a go at a netted bag. No idea how to do that just yet, but I'll learn.

Ah, marvelous stuff, jute twine (Hairy String). So many uses, such little time

Whether staking a plant, tying lightweight poles together to make a shelter, lighting a fire, so useful. I seem to remember I used it with some dried orange segments and cinnamon sticks to make Christmas tree decorations a couple of years ago too. It dies ply up OK too.

Are you going to use a gill-net method or use a netting needle?

It's a mechanical stage - you mount the slide in it, then you can move your specimen by very small increments by turning the screws. When on anything but the lowest magnification it's very difficult to move the specimen to where you want it.

Tent pegs, at last the smokey hut is complete!
Still haven't found the old ones. A real head scratching mystery. I know they are here somewhere, as I bought a pack of six spares a few months ago, and put them in with the originals and packed the tent back in the ready to go pack. Which hasn't been disturbed untill I came to put the new inner with it. Then discovered the missing pegs. And yes, I've had a thorough search more than once.
Mystery for sure.
