A newspaper article today listed some of a recent prime ministers predictions for the year 2025.

I didn't see eye to eye with him on quite a few things when he was in office and I do think that his predictions are way off, specifically the "explosive growth of a global middle class" which will "reinvent our world".

What does the forum think? What will the world look like in 2025?

Globally and locally?

Less food & insufficient drinking water for everyone.
Greater world poverty & mass displacement of populations
Reduced land mass as sea levels rise.
Unknown diseases will make their appearance.
Anarchic weather patterns.
oil & gas production dwindling.
People will no longer believe the empty promises of politicians, refuse to vote for them & start to govern their own lives.
BcUK will still be here with even more members :)

It's not neccesarily that people beleive the lies, it's the fact they want to beleive in them, to be lead like sheep, many people revel in their servitude and knowledge they are being led. I beleive it's called cognitive dissonance and conformitism. It's human nature to want to follow leaders, but makes me ashamed to be of the same species as these ignorant masses.

We can only predict the current trends are going to continue, so expect more control, suppression and Orwellian-like things not to mention the further degradation of our food and water supply and the complete eradication and outlaw of organic practices. It's grim, yet people still breed like rats knowing this.

Women will get louder and demand more, its our fault, we gave them the vote which started all this nonsense.

I'm going to sit at the bottom of a hill and wait for this thread to arrive.:)

Most have a bleak outlook then?

2025 isn't that far away, only thirteen years, but a lot can happen in thirteen years, in 1999 the Euro had only just arrived, there was no Scottish Parliament (till later that year) and the war on everything hadn't yet started although the Kosovo conflict was ongoing.

I think we'll all be colder and hungrier.

I think in 2025 Europe and the USA will be booming again, with this current blot a distant memory.

My generation has done a pretty crap job in general at raising kids, so i really have my fingers crossed the next generation coming up will learn from our mistakes.

In the bad news:
Israel will be carrying out very specialised assassinations and demolition jobs in Iran and Iran will feel it HAS to respond, the US will threaten Iran with repercussions and Iran will feel it has no other choice but to retaliate or loose face.
So by 2025 either Iran will be finished after a very nasty and dirty war, or it will be teetering on the edge of war.

China will no longer be as much a threat as the rest of the worlds economy booms again China will go into a slump.

North Korea is a bit of a unknown right now, so could swing either way.

The world will see the rise of right wing and extreme right wing parties coming into powers as those of lower IQ try to blame their lazyness on someone else.
These parties will fall as quickly as they rise though when it's found the rest of their policies are empty.

It will bring the UK back to war over the Falklands though.

Computers will get smaller, people will get ****** off that they can't see or type properly, so they'll start to get bigger again.

The world will wake up to the fact that electric cars are useless and that global warming was at best a scam at worst a web of lies.
Hybrids will get more popular though, but rather than the Prius type these will have a MUCH smaller motor that really is nly used to recharge it's cells.
Cells that will go to fully charged in 30 mins, be non flammable and around 1/2 the size they are now.

What an interesting topic! Thanks for making me aware of that book, normally I would avoid anything written by anyone involved in politics just cause I don't like them (politicians that is) but I think that would be an interesting read from someone who was in quite an informed position (hopefully).

I don't think everything will be as bad as has been suggested by others but I do think we are in for some changes. Therefore I think

China will become more powerful than they are now, through their rate of growth will have slowed and their military capability will have increased. Hopefully they will use that new influence for the benefit of the world with countries like north korea though I fear it will be a mixed bag and countries like tibet will still have it hard from them.

The euro will have broken up, maybe so there are fewer member nations, but countries like Greece will have their own currency again and they will be a growing economy again.

Germany will continue to do well, though their growth will also have slowed and there will be more parity within Europe.

Scotland will be an independant nation or have so much devolution they may as well be.

The Falkland islands will be transitioning back to Argentinian control, whether that is that they choose to switch or that they are taken, either way I don't think we will have the military capacity to fight so far from home with so few resources.

Hopefully the Arab spring will produce some stable governments who will be working with and exerting pressure of any regimes still in place and will be a stronger area for it.

Pakistan will be a contentious issue, as a nuclear armed country in turmoil with terrorist, extremists.

I hope we will become more conscious of our consumption which will be reduced either by everything getting too expensive or by things becoming more upgradable, instead of disposable. Cars will increasingly be green, not because of global warming but as a cheaper alternative to oil. You will still have gary boys racing them round.

Individual gadgets will be self charging with solar power.

Diabetes will be a major problem and there will be much stricter regulation on food and its contents, though I think intensive farming (which I hate) will increase. People will grow additional fruit and veg as prices get even higher.

Britain will resume its manufacturing industries and hopefully building more nuclear power stations in conjunction with greener alternatives as a long term investment.

If you got to this point, well done, I didn't think I had written so much and I still have more!
