A few people I've been in touch with have described as being hard to get back to normal/modern/whatever life after the moot.

I was wondering if other people had that, if anyone gets it out in smaller groups or expeditions. And also wondering what other people's thoughts on it are.

Equally interested in the thoughts of those that haven't experienced problems adjusting.

I've never made it to a moot yet but I do get away on plenty of trips, as soon as I'm back home I'm planning for the next one.

I just get on with some of the hundreds of projects that the Moot has inspired:)
So far I have made some Iron Ages shoes and am halfway through a leather, fold out, first aid satchel for base camp use, then there is the leather camera case, the leather roll up wash kit, bracer, baskets, a canvas pack etc etc etc
Plus of course the odd night out in the woods and
WORK :(

The hardest thing (for me) was realising how plugged in we are day to day....
It was quite sad to leave; and dawned on me very quickly on return how much more enjoyable the simple life is whith good company.

I did a tesco's run mid moot for a group cook and almost the plot at one stage. It was that extreme form one scenario to another. Never flet like that before.

Back to the cleanroom, H&S issues, people that cant raise a simple smile and counting down the days until the next moot. Oh, and our usual winter meets inbetween!

Puts daily life very much in persective :p

interesting I didn't actually check if it was a first timer thing, or maybe an urban thing, we have friend who were away camping with a group in their school i.e peole they see nearly every day who had the same problem I describe coming back to the city.

I always get post moot blues :( .... takes me a week or so to get back into the swing of things. I spend most of my time outdoors (Climbing instructor / coach as my current main job and freelance outdoor instructor on weekends) and live close to the beacons, but not even being out and about seems to help. I think its the company I miss ..... great bunch of people.

I realy do not think I could cope with a city - I lived in Brussels for 10 years but since then I have spent over 30 years in a cottage in the countryside!

I always have blues after a week in the woods. The worst was after journeyman last year, i couldnt believe the things people complained about when feck me they could get hot water out a tap and had food in the cupboard. Ive been moping about and really it only clears once ive a plan to get out again.

I went to the kitchen to toast some muffins last night. It took me a few moments to work out how to do it without using an open fire!

yes I get `post moot blues' as well, I think firstly I miss the company, and I miss the equality. its how societies should be - judged by your contributions and helpfulness to the group not by your possessions or looks. infact having fewer possessions is fun! I also enjoy all the walking round - walking for water and to the toilet. having these things just outside the immediate vincinity makes you burn way more calories. I love sleeping in my hammock outdoors though admittedly, i do love my bed and bath, those are the things i miss the most. Oh and a kettle, I hate waiting for brews. There are negative things as well though - I do enjoy my privacy so being back in a house is nice also, I think i might bring a proper tent next year, and I found camping on the edge of the woods near the sand dunes gave me panic attacks in the night, I guess it awoke a primordial fear that I was on the edge of the community with one side of me exposed to open grass, I dont know why but i kept really feeling it in the night and waking up panicking. It was after most people had left and the woods were quite empty. I think Im a creature that was supposed to live in a burrow rather than a tree!
