Mine arrived as well, just with a damaged box. I'll take it for a walk tomorrow and have a play. I noticed the company was Israeli, I vaguely remember that these were issue items in their army. Can anyone confirm?

All the best

For those who may be interested a mini review....

General construction...more flimsy than I expected...basically stamped sheet metal and far from robust hinges

In use...better than expected. The trap to load fuel is a nice feature and it is more effective than a small cook fire in that it directs heat upwards onto the pan quite well. Good for a 10cm (shown) or 12cm billy (ideal) - probably nothing above a 14cm pan size though

Worth the £9.50 I paid - not worth the normal selling price!

Nice review Red - I was considering one of these but eventually went for the Woodland Edge stove instead. At this new price I suppose I could stretch to both now :D

What do you think they will be like longevity wise?

HI Silverback,
Being essentially cheaply made, if they are abused, then they'll proably rust out in a year or two. If however, you take the time to clean after use and store dry etc, I can't see that there be an issue for many years. I won't put an actual number of years because people are likely to take it as gospel and want me to answer why theirs fell to bits after so long!
Like all things, look after it, and it will look after you!

Tried mine out yesterday on the way home from work. Not ideal conditions as there was a bracing wind blowing right into the stove (which was good for the updraught, but also kept the mug cold). It took two charges of sticks to bring half a US canteen mug of water to tea making temperature, thanks to the wind, but I had no place to shelter other than right beside a road. I'll spark it up again soon to give it a better trial as I'm sure it should neither take that long nor that much fuel to heat one mug of water. It cooled quickly after removing the mug, such that it was cold enough to pack back up long before the tea was finished. The pouch will make it convenient to carry as part of a belt kit for bimbles in the woods, I just need to learn how to drive it properly.

Used mine the other day for a quick brew and to heat a ratpack meal. Was quite impressed with it, as its easy to load, funnels the flame just where needed, and it ddnt need a lot of fuel :) Well worth the £9 i paid for it, but i wouldnt pay the full price.

Happy Spikey :)

I recieved mine today, the seller had written a note saying he couldn't be bothered to dig through his stock for a seconds item so he said that he had sent me a top quality one, I must admit there wasn't any visible damage not even any creases in the box it came in, therefore I am very happy.

I can't wait to give it a go!

Got mine today ( Cheers again Matt :D )

yep little flimsy maybe but just needs a bit of TLC

definatly a second this one as the pouch is a bit ruff and dirty. rusty on one corner and a little bent But nothing to stop it working fine :D

Recone i can fit my Combat Wok on it  :D :D :D

I really need to stop these impulse buys, but at this price I just couldn't resist. The seller still has 6 left (at the time of posting) on the current listing.

:D from the Chinese Supermarkets they do cheap Woks palin steel good thickness and in 3 sizes
the smallest is 8" across and 2.5 " deep ideal size for one. and only about £5 ish

(mind you last one i bought was 10yrs ago at least :D )

ive got 2 left my first the real combat Wok i cut of the original handle and welded on a Nut for fixing a detatchable handle. Used to stow it upside down on the top of the bergan under the top pouch. quick and easy to use, easy to clean and you can do Chips in um  . Nice on exercise.

remember one of the reasons they are used in the areas they came from is that they are very fuel effecent .

Combat Wok was just he joke name for it folded down small and after you chucked the hot stirfry at your attacker you could wack em with it its a solid bit of steel
Course if your going to sharpen the rim what grind would you use :lmao:

I've managed to grab one; let you know my views when it arrives (I'm meant to be *not* buying new kit at the moment )

What's a combat wok?
