Midlands Winter '08 Meet.

You can rest assured Lindsey it won't be a mouth searing, ear blazing inferno chilli. I have to cater for all tastes with it so I reckon you'll be ok having a bowl full. :)

I was thinking the same Gary, especially after you were stuck with doing the stew at the May meet. I'm more than happy to put a spell in as well. I believe Bernie is working on a motorised spit so that might make it a bit easier to manage though.

Also, can you bring a cauldron and suspension chain as I'm doing a chilli for Bodge. He might even let some of the others have a sniff or 2 ;)

Talking of the chilli, do we want to have it at the same time as the spit roast?

I think it would be cool (or hot:D ) to have the chilli available for a late lunch on the Saturday and any left (not much chance) on the saturday night and if any left (virtually no chance) Sunday breakfast:D :D :D :D ............

On oatcakes:) :) :) :) :)

I think I might like to attempt to cook something wrapped in leaves (probably a fish) but can anyone tell me what sort of leaves are best, and if they can be found available in winter? Is dock ok?

Not too sure if you could manage to get any leaves big enough to cook with in the middle of December Lindsey but you might try cabbage leaves.

Failing that, why not try cooking your fish in wet newspaper? Same principle, you just wrap the fish up in soaking wet newspaper, put it on the fire, keep turning it and damping it and the fish gets steamed. It does taste good if you do it with herbs etc :)

We should have some rabbit at the Meet, but is anyone bringing pigeons?

Oh, I shall inform (a.k.a - warn) the site that there'll be some skinning occuring. This way I may not have to answer questions about things that don't occur  :lmao: :D .

I will have just a few bags that Womble bought for Middlewood which will be available for what she paid for it, which was £5 a bag.

I'll go for two bags please (If there's any left) - it's almost certain that I'll be using public transport for this one, so I'll 'probably' be travelling a bit lighter than I have previously.

Hi everyone!
I'm relatively new to this forum, I went to the bushmoot earlier this year and I would love to meet some local bushcrafters, so I'll come to the meet.
It will just be me in ether a tent or bivy depending on conditions.
I'll skip the pig, but I'll go for some chilli and pigeon if that alright.
I've just aquired the personal kit of a San bushman so I'll bring that if anybody wants a peak.

Well now there's a freezer full of pigeon between 3 people, it hardly sounds like a contest at all. I'll just have to not eat anything for a few days before hand!

I have some nice cut lengths of chromed steel rod that would be ideal as pot supports in a hobo stove, they fit nicely across a 12cm one i have at home. If anybody wants a couple feel free to grab me over the weekend, i don't want anything for them BTW, Just a gesture of goodwill near Christmas to my fellow shrafters at the Midlands Meet. :D :D :D
