Does anyone play this?

Anyone that's wondering what I'm on about can have a look here...

No, but I do play Mahjong (Oriental type of game - ask leon-1 ;) ) - does that count?

Scary part:
My name: J - o - h - a - n (username: A - h - j - n - o), add a 'M' and 'G', and you get: M - a -h - j - o - n - g
:yikes:

I don't, and the website doesn't really help explain what it is. I mean, this is the first entry in the FAQ:

" Does an Avatar get 9th Rank benefits even if his score in the first required Ability places him at 8th Rank, but not lower Rank (higher numerically, such as 10th and 11th Rank) ones? And does an Avatar have to be in an Order if his Abilities are the correct ones for that?"

Huh? Is that even in English?

So, what is it, and should I play it?

Is that similar to "World of Warcraft" ? My cousin plays that. She likes learning cooking skills and sitting by her fire eating, cos other players stop and chat when she does that...

ok, it was created by Gary Gygax the creator of Dungeons and Dragons, he started teh company TSR in the 70's and the huge following of D&D followed through the 80's and 90's.

He's no longer a part of D&D and he's created a few role playing games since leaving TSR. One of them is lejendary adventures, it's a role playing game like D&D but a different playing system and rules, it's more simple and quicker to play (less looking at rule books etc) I first saw it last month and I've had look at it but not played it, hence my question.
:D

I have a copy of the Lejendary Adventures, but genuinly couldn't work out a lot of the systems involved, and I'm a RPGer with 25 years of rule book experience behind me! Here's link to the latest incarnation of the rules: http://www.trolllord.com/lejendaryadventure.htm

The company that currently publishes this system - Troll Lord Games - also publish a very nice game called "Castles & Crusades", which is a rather well put together "D&D light" game - Old-skool gaming with modern mechanics.

I never thought I'd be discussing Role Playing Games on THIS site... would anyone like to hear about my 10th level dwarven cleric? :D

I take it that this has nothing to do with computer games, but envoles actually having real people/friends to play the game with?

That would make a refreshing change over the amount of interaction with other people that most kids these days have.

You're right there Andyn...The Role playing games of years past are still popular but no where near as much as they were. It's funny how parents years ago were fretting about the kids playing D&D etc but now they wish the kids were more social and played games like that!

I tend to play when I go up north to the family, I get together with a few mates and we have a great harmless laugh.

I'm encouraging my kids to play boardgames and the like (when they're not outside) so that they know how to interact while having fun!

Womble - So, would you say "Castles & Crusades" is worth a look? I've got my head around most of the rules in Lejendary, I just need to play it!

Some day you're Dwarf is going to have to meet my Gnome illusionist/Thief :lmao:

i play that game. im a 48 night elf driud lol.

I used to play AD&D at school, then again towards the end of my Army career, but I haven't played since about 1998 - Jeez that long, how time flies!

I played Warhammer Fantasy aswell, which I really got into.

Legendary Adventures sounds interesting, beats playing Snakes & Ladders all the time with my 5yr old boy.(Only because he beats me all the time:o :lmao: ).

I must admit I'm an avid role-player (and have been for 25 years now).... and currently run 2 games a week as we have far too many players to all sit around the table at one time..... We dont do alot of fantasy stuff, but tend to play more modern / sci-fi / and horror games...... which reminds me, I best go as we are starting a new 1920's Cthulhu game tonight so I better clear the table :(

:D

I've moved over to Wales and there's no one to play with :-) I'm an old AD&D the 2nd edition player, started 21 years ago, play a bit of 3rd edition when i'm up north. Also played some traveller, MERPS, 40K

D&D, AD&D, Champions, Traveller, Cthulu and others, but Paranoia was always one of my favourites.

Ha ha :lmao:
I've never done role playing myself but some of my best friends do :)

Despite the geeky reputation I've always found the sort of people that play
these 'games' to be good humoured and have a wide range of cool interests
so I am kindly disposed towards that sort of thing!

My favourite board game is Siedler, or 'Settlers' but I recommend the
German edition as the artwork is better, although the instructions can be
a little impenetrable ;)

"You may load up with ever so good a Verb, but I notice that you never really bring
down a subject with it at the present German range -- you only cripple it."
Mark Twain - The Awful German Language

I like the proverbs quote on that page as well "A little learning makes the
whole world kin."

Did any one ever play Runequest? I haven't played it for about 25 years but it was good fun at the time and was simpler than D&D.
