Good stuff

I never knew you had a horse let alone one which needs shaving, do you turn it upside down and strap it down?

That's great southey, I'm looking forward to following your progress as I've been wanting one of these myself. Was it difficult to get the materials needed where you are or is everything fairly accessible?

Looks great, I'm jealous cos I live 2 floors up in a flat.

Thanks chap! I picked up all the bits from a site that had been cleared by the electric company so they could access the over head cables,I have had them kicking around for a while waiting on other projects, But after getting that book decided the other projects would be easier with the horse:D

This is the book recommended to be by a friend, Bernard S Mason Woodcraft and Camping though I got mine for £8 all in from a US store through Amazon, the price seems to have risen since last month! but Having read it I would happily pay the higher prices for it, !!FANTASTIC BOOK ALERT!!

And this just before tea, Working from one end then switching takes a lot of the meat out using the small curved gouge,

Just a little tidying up and it'll be ready to be fitted properly, then to make the vice head:)

Cheers Aaron:) Yup lathe chisels are not the best for bopping! I think the first job will be to make replacement handles for them:) definatly going to be hving a go at a pole lathe at some point, though will need to collect a few more logs first:D

Learning as you go is the best way of learning, and some claim it's the only true way! Screw the rocket science, it's a dumb head you know . It might not be the most perfectly optimised shave horse for a yearly production rate of 2000 chairs but it sure will do for your needs...
