maby put some 'conveniently placed' bits of wood on their tracks and maby they will learn that the woods is not the right place to play on their bikes. sure, they may break an arm, or neck if they are not wearing a helmet (sounds likely) but i have no sympathy for these people.

Don't beat yourself over this Scorpio.. I can assure you it's not only young people who behave life oafs. There are plenty of "adults" who are supposed to "know better" who have absolutely no respect for anything or anybody.

This is a social problem, not an access to private land issue.

Toddy

Well now, that's a matter of opinion rather than a matter of fact.

For me, in a country that still respects private land ownership, land should remain private until all such "social problems" have been resolved. I can suggest some resolution strategies if that helps?

A hundred plus people a day walk down the path along side my house. Maybe two out of all of them drop litter.

So you would have 98 banned so that it could remain pristine ??

I'm not that selfish.

Better to convince the two who do drop litter to deisst and appreciate what we all have.

yes calcrux i agree to complain about 0thers using the wood is narrow minded but i think in this instance there abusing it cos the wood wasnt designed to have mini motos run through itso complaing is allowed i would say

In this case they are breaking the law and the police should be called. Nothing narrow minded about it.

Well now, I guess that works. For a given view of what "selfish" means.

You see I see the view of "I want access to something I don't own, I acknowledge that at least two people a day will damage and litter the land I want to access but since its not me, its not my problem" as a different view of "selfish" when viewed from the landowners viewpoint. Should public taxation pay to clean up all the faeces? Or should the person who worked most of their life to buy a tiny parcel of life pick up the dog mess each day?

Not picking a fight here, but as a man who has worked hard to buy a tiny small holding, I'll be damned if I'll let monkey bikes and dog mess onto what I sweated all weekend to improve.

Different world view again. I think you have to earn what you want to enjoy. Those who take without any form of work are the problem.

I want to enjoy clean air, growing woodlands, the changing seasons, waters and hills, and wandering this beautiful land of ours.

There is no ownership of these.

I'm very glad I live in a country which acknowledges this.

I still think this thread is about a social issue, not a land rights one.

It is both a social and a land access issue. Quite rightly the use of motorised vehicles is restricted to specific kinds of routes and even on green lanes or any other legitimate off-tarmac right of way motorised vehicles must be insured and taxed and the rider/driver must have a licence. The only place a juvenile without a licence can ride a motorbile is on private land with the landowner's permission. The penalty for using a motorised vehicle illegally includes the vehicle being crushed and in Wales that is happening.

You should take photographic evidence and inform the police. However, in many cases (and I am involved with trying to educate the illegal offroading fringe) it is ignorance that needs correcting.

Cheers,

Broch

I've taken advice from our fellow bushcrafting-bro Miyago on these matters. I can see a future decline on bikin' bandits in the area.

Wasteland seems to be the most appropriate site for racing mini motorbikes... for those who must.

Around here the old coal shale bings...

im thinking of setting up some "spy" cameras in the woods near mine to get footage of people breaking the law there and anonymously posting it to the police, hopefully the footage should provide sufficient evidence for the police to press charges. which hopefully would at least stop the people who have been caught doing it again.

Just make sure you delete the bits when you walk up to the camera and switch it off. Might give it away.
