I normally carry between 15-20kg if going for extended hikes but if its justa short one then about 10kg with my essentials does me fine.

No spare pants?
Day 1, right way round, right way out
Day 2, right way round, inside out
Day 3, wrong way round, inside out
Day 4, wrong way round, right way out
Day 5... pants have run off on their own accord....

Whenever I go hiking, my rucksack is always about 20kg and after a while I don't really notice it. The farthest I've walked with this weight is 112 miles. I read someone's post before and they said their pack was 9kg.

I can run with 20kg on my back ! lol I'd survive the zombies me haha

How old are you? I'd be impressed if you could still do that when you are in your 50's but as it is you are probably going to get some long term damage from carrying too much. I am always tempted to carry too much. I don't walk long distances now, because I can't, so it doesn't make any sense to take anything more than about 15 lbs not including camera's.

If a small walk carry whatever you need.. but hiking for me is a fair distance, and yeah i could carry more but i like to keep as light as possible. Walking and a one night camp under 10kg is easy with luxuries!
