I Will do. Tis the next step on my learning journey, started with sourdough bread a few years ago, then butter making, moved onto curing my own bacon which then led onto sausage making, so the natural progression is 'fermented' sausages. Hopefully get this mastered and then it will be onto cheese/yoghurt making.

Not so much bushcrafty I know, more self sufficiency but it does mean I know exactly what is going in to my 'home' made produce.

LOVE.THIS.

Me too.

I would love to cook more but my fathers kitchen is too chaotic.

And there is no stove these days, only a whole load of gadgets I do not know how to use.

Today I received my order of Ecover stuff for the new place. On private drainage (albeit we replaced the very old septic tank with a top-notch packet sewage plant during the renovations) so choice of products for washing and cleaning needs care.

I grew up with a septic tank so the idea of being very selective what I put down the sink/bath/toilet/washing machine waste is very familiar. But much less so my other half, so I have equipped the house with septic-tank safe products so he gets a "soft landing."

(Nothing like private drainage to focus the mind on the impact of washing and cleaning products..... and on what goes into the waste system).

Ordered a flash new dehydrator today. Gave my basic one away to a friend and am waiting in anticipation for Wednesday delivery.
This time it's a oblong one, rather than round, so hopefully will fit better on the worktop.
I know this seems to kinda go against my "no more electrical items" philosophy, but I'm simply replacing something I do use, with a better version. something I promised myself before lockdown, so I havnt rushed into it. I couldn't make fruit leather in the last one. I can in this new one. So, as I love fruit leather and make loads of it in the oven, this will save on electric and faff.

My dehydrator has arrived.!
Fruit leather trays, yoghurt pots, timer. Luxury! No more getting out of bed in the middle of the night to turn it off.
I'm a very happy bunny. The only electrical item I've ever got excited about.

What make / model is it? I ask as I'm thinking of getting myself one rather than using the oven for making jerky / biltong. Ta.

It's the L'EQUIP filter pro.
Pricy, but has so much more with it than the very basic round £30 one I've had for years. It's realy going to up my game.
I've had my eye on it for a very long time, and saved for it.
Also had the kitchen garden magazine promo code, KGFP20, which gave me 20% off, and brought it down to£143.20.

Not plugged it in yet, as I've been busy in the garden and I'm too tired, so will start playing with it tomorrow. I have apples and frozen veg ready to go. I'll just defrost the veg overnight. I like to dehydrate frozen veg, as they are cheap, and already cooked, so rehydrate easily, and I can get almost two bags in one kilner jar, so no worries if the freezer breaks down.(and takes up less space if kept in a dark cupboard for up to a year.) I also bung in an oxygen absorber into the jar for keeping optimum condition.

I received an email from a company from which I had bought one of two items previously; the message contained a discount code like "XMAS10" for 10% off.

Well, surprise surprise, the code "XMAS25" worked even better!

(I tried other values, like 30, 40 and 50, but they didn't work.)

New suitcase butane portable stove for the van as the old one was beginning to get a bit finicky to push the lever down and I was getting gas escape.

28 cans of gas for £30

Water tank cleaning solution.

A Walkers Strathspey Fruit Cake. Pricy, but nothing comes close to these things.
