Well, we made it back from the Arctic with all appendages intact and some great memories... We couldn't build the Lavvu we had in mind due to insufficient dead wood of the right size and not wanting to cut live wood unless absolutely necessary. We ended up with a lean to big enough for the whole group to comfortably sit around the fire instead. Jokkmokk town is a charming place but if you wish to buy from the market be prepared to sell your first born child or your house as prices are way beyond reasonable. For example, a kuksa that costs £8 from military mart will cost you a cool £30 in Jokkmokk. If you want a nice custom one, don't expect much change from £250. That said, the experience was fun and worth a look. The forest however was breathtaking and we all had a fantastic week honing our skills and being at one with "The Nature". Below are just a few pics to whet your appetite for the cold wild places of the earth !!
