Could this be for reading maps??
I had forgotten about this and just came across whilst rummaging about in a box full of rammel
I put two D-cells in and Presto!!!- nothing
After cleaning the contacts, it fired into life
The torch is turned on by screwing the base, it has a dimmer built in and when i removed the negative spring contact you could see the wound coil (resistor? or is it a capacitor, i forget)...
It all works fine now
Here's the torch-thing...
If it is as i suspect for reading maps, do people still use them or has something ultra high tech taken over from these and rendered them redundant????
Regards, John
