Oh, and before you jump on me, British Red, no, I haven't yet finished it!!!!
I want to use a nice found deer antler crown but I haven't any luck with it! :)

funnily enough, I just glued some lumps of wood to my first couple of nessys today. Personally I think they are ugly as sin, but I had an email from a knifemaker that I admire asking if I had any examples. At the time I didn't, so I am using them a a procrastination project ;)

pictures in a few days :)

Why can't you have a Nessmuk, Red

I know they have some antlers, the snag is, you can't see what you're buying before you buy.. but I think I'll have to bite the bullet... or wait till the Norfolk Show...in July:(

My nessie is from ML Knives (www.mlknives.com) and is made of 1095 with tiger maple scales.

This nessie doesn't have much of that upswept curve along the back that I like in others. But it's a terrific knife and I really love dealing with Matt at ML Knives, so he gets all my business first.

Here are some photos:

Personally I don't feel nessies are especially useful for outdoorsmen (George Sears would scold me) -- puukkos and bushcraft blades beat them for everything but slicing I think. They are *great* in the kitchen, though.

For me, the draw of the nessie is the tradition of the object and that alone makes one worth having.

Just finished this one up 8" overall with 4" blade 2mm 01 tool steel and convex grind. The handle is hawthorn but I'm not too happy with the way it went together (a slight gap on one of the slabs and a wonky pin).

I have a new Idea for a handle shape that I've not seen on a nessie before. It looks good on paper so I'll probably get started on it on Friday.

Some luverly blades here...Very nice...Now,can someone enlighten me.What or who is(was) Nessmuk? To me they look like a shortened version of what my local butcher uses!
