It is because the Ray Mears, Bear Grylls, Dave Canterbury, Lofty Wiseman comparisons have been done to death. Everyone has a different view and it is often the beginning of heated threads. By asking who do you rate the highest doesn’t invite any new insight, just an argument.

I think a lot depends on the Camera Team following them. They all have their own way and their own talents, but lets face it there are plenty of good Bushcraft People on You Tube, and some of them make remarkable programmes, some are called for their greatness, others are great but never called.

The late Ellsworth Jaeger. He was a faculty member of the Buffalo Museum of Science and an authority on Neolithic native American Indians.
In 1945, he published a volume "Wildwood Wisdom", with more than 400 illustrations, outdoor native activity such as bark crafts, canoes and tipi.
Fortunately, the entire book was reprinted in 1992. You owe it to yourself to own a copy. It's probable that the book is the inspirational source for a lot of modern TV series subject matters of bushcraft. Mine was just $17.95USD.

ISBN 978-0-936070-12-4

If I knew that I'd have any amount of "camp time," I'd take the book to try to replicate some of the crafts.
