i just cut the hook off and had done with it and like the other guy made a strap for carrying it so the cooker dont fall off

It is excellent kit - the only downsides are weight and the fact it isn't non-stick. It works well on an open fire when you run out of meths. The loops on the 'frying pan' handle are indeed for an improvised wooden extension.

Weight is even more of an issue if you get the stainless one. I just weighed mine today and it came in at 1360g. Still love it though, fantastic bits of kit. Being able to hang the larger pan over an open fire is a great bonus.

Does anyone know where I can get a stainless version?

I dislike using aluminium for cooking and I can put up with the extra weight.
