Technology does have it's place, because despite all the destruction and harm that has been caused in it's use, it's also done an invaluable amount of good. The continuing development of artificial limbs combing electronics with natural nerve pathways, the use of computers to aid those with communication difficulties, etc, etc, the list goes on. There are ways to combine old knowledge with new, we're just not always very good at doing it, or perhaps directing what we create towards a positive end. 'Old' knowledge has it's place, to inform and to guide. I think that we have reached a point of needing to look back to rediscover and honour the knowledge of our ancestors, to understand the way they lived, however, not necessarily to live in the same way, but to remember the value of the earth that supports us and how it supports us. We've spent so long looking outside ourselves for solutions to problems, convinced that technology can solve everything, but technology is nothing without a community to serve and until we re-establish that sense of community and brotherhood with each other, technology will continue to rule us. We have to remember that the 'guardian angels' of this world aren't out there, but are here, and are us, and we need to start looking out for each other and the world a lot more carefully.
