Grail knives

Ok folks, who has/had/what are your grail knives???
Bushcraft,Survival or even more ornament than use knives???
What do yo have in your collection/had disappointed and moved on from your collection, still searching for, given up or can’t afford grail blades???

And yes, this is largely somewhat to do with and your fault, yes you you know who you are you

A grail knife for me is the Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1, did not have funds ages ago when available.

But do have 4 grail leatherman tools, an original pst, juice KF4, original wave and the rarest leatherman Steens.

Pictures as promised of the steens, in new boxed condition, as stopped hunting after purchasing.

Too many to list. This is one of my coolest. Screenused Kincades knife that he gives to Bond in Skyfall.

TOPS El Chete. I bought it last year after my divorce was finalised. The handle is more comfortable than it looks, I cannot fault the blade finish and heat treatment. The blade shape is far more useful than the typical upswept curve of an Esee Junglas for example.

I do like the Brechfa HVB, a bit out of my range so I got a helle ultvaer for now.
A busse, winkler and one of the reworked MOD knives are on my treat list next year- fingers crossed.

My mother was the sort of person who believed that axes and Skilsaws were perfectly good birthday presents.
One year, she gave me $100.00 with the instruction to spend it all on one knife.
1985 maybe? I bought a Kershaw locking folder, 2.25" edge, heavy brass and steel. Nice wood scales. Very well stitched leather case.

I'm certain that there are better blades in this day and time but for sentimental reasons, the Kershaw is really very good. It's a nice little belt knife on days of bird hunting. Hard enough to hold an edge but not brittle and chipping.

The next step that I'm toying with is to have a Haida First Nations carver do some
deep engraving totems in the brass. Lots of FN carvers are really good at carving silver which is about as hard as the brass. They make rings and cuffs and bracelets, medallions and earrings.

I don’t own any knives that I don’t use on a regular basis.
I'd quite like an original Rambo knife from First Blood but there is no way I could afford one.

One thing I really want though is an accurate Crocodile Dundee Bowie.

Nope. That’s what it went for in auction. Personally I was expecting it to go over £100k. Even the ones made by Jimmy Lile not used in the film can reach £30k. This one sold for $42k in a private sale after the auction.

Have you tried it out I have a collection of nice blades, but rotate the lot.

I haven’t tried that one out. It’s too valuable. But I’ve tried an unnumbered version. The saw on the back is surprisingly very very good. That’s due to how the teeth are shaped and it being a full flat so the base of the tooth is narrower than the top.

Ian Bailey did two cracking video’s dispelling that myth.

I'd settle for a Spyderco UKPK in CPM S110V steel, to be fair I'd be happy for one in ZDP 189 also cos thats one of the very few steels that lives upto the hype.

Those people who want a steel they can sharpen on their front step just do me a favour and tell someone else how you think its too hard yada yada ZZzzzzzzz.

I've been using a diamond hone for 20 odd years and a strop and am getting on just fine thanks very much. Plus I bet your big old brick waterstones cost more than my diamond hone that doesn't break when I drop it.

@JonathanD you have hell of a collection, but here is the question, which is the most expensive / worth the most knife you have (if not the above) and which is you favorite if you only had to choose one.

Oooh. Discounting the above, it would still have to be film knives. I have pretty much all of the main weapons from the next Kingsman film out in December. The Kings Man. It’s an utter blade fest. If it is a success then they’ll be worth loads


Favourite knife has to be this one. I’ve got one in scandi too which Stu made with a presentation box. So I’ve decided to make this a user.



But then again. In terms of favourite AND value. This one is special.
