For the last couple of months ive been struggling for work what im qualified for (satellite engineer) since the digital switchover, work has gone downhill because basically everyone has some sort of digital TV now. So ive been working with a carpenter for the last 8 months as an apprentice, if you like.
But a few days ago I had a call from an electrical company in Swansea asking me if I would like to go and work in Cambridgeshire for 8 weeks in a power station in Little Barford. I obviously said yes, the money is fantastic but she couldn't guarantee I had it until her boss approved my CV.
Today I had a call....got it!! EXTREMELY happy!!
So, I went to see the woman to take up some details. Not only does she want me for 8 weeks in this power plant, but to learn the skills about working in industrial electrics because she is short on boys for contracts in Suadi Arabia and North Carolina and she wants me there, providing I can gain the necessary skills whilst im in Cambridgeshire. She was a really nice woman, and these were her last words.
''Work hard for me James and ill stick you anywhere in the world''
I feel like today is the start of my career. Nothing could possibly make me feel unhappy today.
I guess thats my year in Canada on hold....for now.
