Gloves for handling hot pots

Is there anyone who can recommend an inexpensive make of gloves that can be used to pick up billy handles, lids etc round a fire with? By gloves I mean glove gloves, not frilly oven gloves

Personally, I'd just pop down to my local builders merchants and pick up a pair of rigger gloves for a couple of quid.

As above riggers are great, also good for thorns, nettles etc. Reasonably compact. I have welders Gauntlets and they are the absolute dogs for heat protection, use them lots when burning stuff in incinerator

Thanks folks. I'd pondered a pair of Jewsons specials but thought I'd check because the first time you'd find they didn't work was when handling something! Would a big builders merchants sell welders gloves?

I got a pair of double layer suede gloves from the local garden centre, only 'cause Andybysea burnt a hole through my last ones

Got my welders gloves from Screwfix. Cheap and well tough, in fact been outside all winter and no damage...

British army gloves and they keep your hands warm as well They can take a fair bit of abuse and are very competetive in price I am sure you can pick uo a used pair very cheap

I got some thin yellow gloves, I think have either Nomex and/or Kelvar woven in them, which are pretty good at holding hot things. Not sure of the ratings on them though and you still have to put things down as they will heat up a little after a while.

But the welding gloves are probably your best bet like the others have said.

I normally get welders gloves from market stalls. Cost £1 to £1.50 a pair. Not really thick enough for good welding gloves but OK for pot handling

I have a clamp pot lifter handle thingy for my hobo stove and zebra billy
for the Dutch oven a quick whittle ona stick produces a pot lifter and turner etc

i use a strip of weaved wool that was boil washed so it is thickly felted, packs smaller and lighter than welders mitts.
