Inspired by my mate James ( he's a member here but I cant remember his user name....Duh) and his recent Patina work, I decided to have a go myself on my Svord Peasant.

That reminds me of rose patterned damascus. Well done. I've dabbled in this a bit myself and found mixtures of vinegar, mustard, horseradish and kethcup work well to create different patterns. Apart from the aesthetics, it's a great way to protect the blade.

That's brilliant mate! Love it! I put a vinegar patina on my timberwolf recently, it had a bit of natural patina on so I did the whole thing, didn't realise you could make it look that good though! :)

Looks good! :)

I like to use vinegar and mustard, mix it lumpy and dress it on for an aged spotty look.

Thanx John, I have to give this a go on one of my cheap knives :)

Needs to be a carbon blade, stainless is...well, stainless ;)

I find the squirty American mustard works a treat. If you want nice patterns fruit works well. A potato will give an even coating.

Mustard overdose. This Vanadium steel is very prone to corrosion and pitting, so I gave it loads of mustard streaks.
