Apart from the obvious price differential, is there a reason why everyone is going for exped? I was under the impression that ortlieb were the mutts, am I wrong or are they just not worth the extra?

Ortlieb are much more robust bags and ideal in a canoe for putting your stuff in, as they will take a fair bit of bashing about but they are quite thick. So if you want a pack liner or small bags for separating your gear, where the bags are protected from the rough and tumble, the Exped ones are lighter and easier to use.

Ortileb are great bags your not wrong. I use my dry bags generally inside another bag or ruck sack if i was just throwing the dry bag in a boat or canoe i would go for the Ortlieb ones but i don't need the heavy wait abrasion resistance.

EDIT: note ot self must type quicker urrrrrg

Now the insect nettings are here I think the 8 Ltr bag is the smallest you should get if you want to use it for the hammock, netting and straps. The bigger might be a safer bet.

Hey Magikelly, after reading your post I changed my order (post # 11) Hope that's ok!!

Cheers,
Dan

I've already got a 30L Ortlieb as a pack liner, but it's rather heavy and not quite the right shape (it's round in section, whereas the Exped Pack Liners are more rectangular). As has already been said, you don't necessarily need a bomb-proof bag for use as a liner.

It's a good bit of kit alright, but not quite what I really want.

I'm giving in to temptation too.

I'd like

1 x Pack liner M £9.50
1 x Pack liner XS £3.70
2 x Fold dry M £6.60

Which I make a total of £19.80

I'll try not to mistake them for hammocks on PP this time! :banghead:

<edit> I'd better make that 2 of the Fold dry M, as I expect dad will want one for his hammock too! </edit>
