I know it's hard to believe but the Quad reg document and tax arrived today from the DVLA (only took 7 months of hassle and they still gave me a Q plate so it's dearer to insure dagnabit). Got it insured though for £130 so wohoo. Guess how I'll be getting to the woods now?

Logistically Kev, a bloody nightmare and costs, the country as it is strapped for cash, to implement this and enforce it would cost millions and millions. I would be surprised if it did come into force and as we know criminals will be the first to ensure their gun is registered, bit like the hand gun ban!

thats not to say it won't happen, but that will run into politics then............

Been down Skolding Woods today to settle the mind as such.
Everything still wet and needed the wellies on. Loads of dead on the ground and new trees blown over

Stinging nettles are over 4' tall in places ( as high as the Quads bars)

The trees have some new growth about 1/2 way up. Brill as the canopy's so high

Anyway had a play and made a pot pourer I saw on an American scouts website

This is it pouring with the pot horizontal

and had a go at using my swiss army knife to get an ember.
Scraped the inner bark to get dust off of some dead willow bark using the can opener and used the magnifying glass to get an ember. Very little undiffused sun in the woods but managed it

Not sure if this is a new badger set or a fox hole. All the sites say a badger set is D shaped with the flat bit at the bottom but this is rounder.

Been too much rain to get paw prints

Can't make out the tracks very well but not many bones about like a fox hole would have

Does have a latrine dug though I reckon

Saturday at the lakes was a wash out. I did get the bow drill working though :)

The tracks are swamp so no access for a while :(

I will see your Bow drill vid and raise it with a hand drill vid :p

Even uncle Ray doesn't have this good form! So many bad hand drill demos out there.

I've got a working bowdrill set now and quite comfortable with it so this is my next project. I can't wait to have a go.

See the hand drill has always fascinated me more than the bow drill!! Iv never managed to get flame with a bow drill but never actually tried the hand drill!! I must have a go at some point!!

Here he makes a hand drill set (Burdock on Willow) - ember in the snow :Wow:
(So much for RM saying it'd too wet in the UK. Reckon he does the fire plough as well)
