Cambridgeshire

Welcome back Crowe & Ricky, cheers Lee & Kev for keeping the thread live! Moving house is talking up all my spare time!! :0( and to top it off the solicitors have had there fingers stuck somewhere dark, pushing my move date to this coming weekend!! AARRRRR!! and GRRRRR!!
Its looking like I'll only be able to pop I'n for a bit at some point!!..
So a big ask to Lee Kev and Ricky the old hands, can you manage the catering and entertainment for the group this weekend? And show any new guys the ropes and social insights!
I'm moving as much as I can this week, but Saturday morning is the big lorry stuff! With as much done as I can beforehand, plus bending the missus a bit, I should manage Sunday with a few hours play time!!
Any communal stuff you may need guys on site?

Kev, I've emailed Tony about the bunk, I'll let you know details as soon as he sends them re keys etc!

Hi Steve

No problem, will do my best to make welcome all the new members, although does anyone have a large tarp if Steve can't make it on Saturday for the communal area in case it rains etc.

Hope the house move goes well, see you on Sunday if you get the time.

Cheers

Rick

Just one thing Steve

Do you want us to leave the camp admin, fees etc to you on Sunday? If not what arrangments do we use to pay the site fees?

note to all that are at the meet at the weekend:-

there is a wood store, but it is a bit hit and miss with the amount of wood available. So don't fotget to bring another means of heating your water and food. Don't worry we should be okay, but just in case. oh and somthing I would suggest is a camping chair as there is a lack of logs to sit on down the bottom end of the camp site.

thats all I can think of at the moment, if there is anthing else that pops to mind I will post

cheers

Rick

i have a 5x4m tarp.... as long as no one is averse to lidl or was it aldi?? i bought two, chopped one in half which ive been using but this one is still in its packet, i was going to put it in the car anyway.

foodwise, ill expect to be independent as am gluten intolerant though would be happy to cook and share a pot of lentil and veg stew or risotto if anyone is interested... im not veggie but usually go veggie at camp just for ease, but i know you guys wont survive without your meat.....

i brought the rest of the wood home from the moot that i had carted, cut and split, i wasnt going to leave that behind, so will bring that

sounds like im on the definite list now ;)

I'm driving past the site Friday night, so I'll leave the com tarp I'n a black bin bag where the trolleys are kept behind the metal fence! Get you started for Saturday morning.. Right, time to dig out bush stuff boxed up!! Glad I'm organised on that front and marked all the important boxes!! :0)

I'll be there early enough on Saturday morning, to do any greets to the new members, probably bring my DD tarp for use, just incase, until a larger one appears :) But bearing in mind I'll be off around tea time, and will be taking it with me!

Would think the best way to play it, for the newbies, is once you arrive and have parked, head through the gate and keep going straight on, turn left at (or near) the bottom of that field and you should find us in the next clearing. The nearest drinking tap to where we will be is towards the bottom of the first field on the left hand side as you enter. Toilet/shower facilities are in the building you will pass as you leave the car park.

Hopefully that will make some sort of sense to you, if not, once you get there it will :)

Sounds like you best deal there Steve, getting let off all that unpacking - mind you it will save a few 'rows' :) at least you can't be accused of putting something in the wrong place :)

Sorry L8starter, we are only booked in from 10am Saturday till Sunday tea timeish as we have been for all past meets. From memory, I think some scout groups use the site on a Friday evening.

PM sent Kev..

Too true Lee, looking forward to getting away from ALL responsibilities!!

As Lee said, just head straight down to the bottom and hook left.. If your feet get wet, that's the stream/river and you've gone too far! ;0) we are in the bottom left field/wooded area that's bounded by the stream on two sides!

Cheers Tina, I should be hammocking so I'll run over my underquilt makings with you!.. Time to think about food I think!

If numbers stay at a sustainable level, maybe we can look at Fridays too next year, as it's available to us, it's just the numbers issue to make it worth while!

sorry guys but having thought long and hard, i have so much happening here and i need to be back by sunday lunchtime that coming on saturday morning just doesnt make sense in terms of hauling things out, driving from norwich and setting up just for one afternoon and evening..... shame, i was looking forward to a couple of nights away from hassle.

my fault for not checking timings earlier. catch you all another time hopefully
