OK just for fun , if you could invite 5 people living or dead to and evening in the woods around the fire who would you, and why would you, invite?
Me? well, in no particular order apart from no.1
1: My wife, Kate. with who's support and love allows me to do this bushcraft thing.
2: Christopher John McCandless, why did he go "into the wild"
3: John Muir, the Scot/Americam naturalist and early advocate of perserving the wilderness
4: Ray Mears, enough said
5: Winston Churchill. IMHO a great leader for the time

and as an indulgence any UK service man or woman injured in the current conflicts would be guest of honour.

So who would your's be ?

Davy Crockett, Earl Skruggs, Ray Mears, Timothy Leary, Thor Heyerdahl and Jim Beam as guest of honour.

Im editing because in my excitemen i didnt post why!

Crockett - like to meet the legendary man
Scruggs - best banjy player in the world (play a bit myself)
Mears - to complain about his website pricing and learn some stuff
Heyerdahl - hear some stories
Leary - to turn on, tune in and drop out for the night
Jim Beam - to share with all

Thoreau...for wisdom
Mother Theresa...for spiritual guidance
Da Vinci...for inspiration and gadget making
Boccaaccio...for fireside stories
H F Whittingstall...camp cook

Why only five...If I could choose more I'd have the perfect scout troop...

Semi stolen a bit from other people suggestions

Chris Ryan(speaks for itself)
Ray Mears (as above)
Mr T (Just to keep the chit chat going)
Churchill (As mentioned nothing more to say on the subject)
Kelly (a friend I lost a few years ago and sadly didnt get to get to the woods with him)

1. My Dad
2. Jim Bridger
3. Kit Carson
4. Baden Powell
5. My old Scoutmaster

For a bushcraft Supper I think the reasons are self evident.

Ray Mears
Bruce Parry
Horatio Nelson
Stephen Hawking
Gordon Hilman cos he just cracks me up. Or maybe Karl Pilkington.

Ray Mears and Bear Grylls, just to see what happens. I would fill the other 3 with whoever bids the most tot see whats happens (and then I could afford the woodlore knives on offer by MartinK9) . Either that or the other 3 would be Billy Connely & Dylan Moran for the craic + my mate gerry cos he loves the craic.

Ray Mears - wouldn't be right not too
Andy McNabb - Kinda like the guy, whether he was right or wrong, I still find him interesting
Lars Fält - another wealth of information there
An Aboriginal from a long time ago - to really connect with someone who new how to live with the land
a Native American from a long time ago - to get a first hand view on bushcraft from when it was the only way of life

And if I can push the boat out - Gordon Ramsey to do the cooking

Mors Kochanski - for his jokes
Gerald Durrell - For his stories and knowledge
Ray Mears - need I say more
Tristan Jones - to hear about his sailing adventures
Sir Richard Burton - to hear about hsi exploring

Lake Bell
Jessie James
Mila Kunis
Penelope Cruz
Jessica Biel

Why, I dont know, just some names that popped into my head lol

Anyway

Johnny Cash Music
Raymond Blanc food and charisma
Garry Little for a laugh
Bear Grylls for a story or two, after seeing Ray on Hestons fishy feast, he would be abit boring to have at a VIP campfire
Jessie James, music back up etc :-D
