I don't class myself as a guitar player but like to tinker about. Only axe (musically speaking) I have at present is my Epiphone SG but the old boy has been in virtual hibernation for the last decade and a half. If I fancy a quick play then I grab one of the cheap acoustics I bought for the boys. My thrill is to tune up and tinkle - I missed my ship on the roadie boat.

Love your puppies btw

I can play, but I'm not great.
I can't read music, but I can play from tabs.
I have three guitars - an acoustic, an electro-acoustic, and Gibson Les Paul copy (yeah, like I could afford the real thing!) because I was an 80s/90s indie kid and I had to have one.

Nice resi - square or round neck? I'm guessing round from the capo on the headstock...

Don't have any photos to hand, but my collection currently runs to a B & M Rhonda classical, a Yamaha 12-string, a Hofner Galaxy electric (vintage, with 3 humbuckers and more knobs than a nuclear power station), a Hurricane Lead Star II (also electric, from back in my heavy metal days), an Ozark dobro (square-neck resophonic), and my pride and joy - a Taylor CE210 electro-acoustic dreadnought. Then there's my octave mandola, which isn't really a guitar but I might as well mention it... ;)

Round neck. Plays great and well worth the money I spent. It's made through Michael Messer.

You've got some nice guitars! I used to have an Alvarez 12 string, that was the one I wish I never sold :(

Never sell guitars! Although I do occasionally find myself looking around and thinking "I could use some more space in here..." ;)

I'm a guitar learner, just starting out, got myself a strat copy ( no name on the headstock) for £20 from a second hand shop and its more than adequate to allow me to learn but i really want a les paul, and a resonator coz i love that bluesy sound.

I have a friend who is very competent on the guitar and he is teaching me, as well as using youtube and books.

I play bass guitar. I used to have a few including an Ibanez 5 string, a fretless 5 string and a Stingray copy) but now I just have my first bass; a Charvette by Charvel (budget arm of Jackson). I also had a Fender 6 string acoustic guitar and a Jackson 6 string electric (locking nut & floating trem etc).

I also play the drums. I am the owner of a double bass drum Yamaha Stage Custom setup in clear sea green. Haven't played in a long while though.

It's possibly more accurate to say that I practice than say I'm a guitar player. I still consider myself a novice as I've only been learning guitar for just under 2 years and bass for about 6 months. Anyway this is my collection; a Jim Deacon strat copy, a Fender Geminii 2 acoustic and a Stagg Bass. The acoustic really belongs to my wife but since she doesn't play I have unrestricted use of it.

I play all sorts of guitar and alas lost my instruments some years back, but have got a collection back though unfortunately not such nice instruments!

I found a lovely classical guitar in a charity shop, solid top, made by Juan Teijeiro sounds nice 15 quid! Got a steel string acoustic for those open tunings and a bit of slide bought that new, just a cheapy vintage but for the price its a sound guitar. I have an adam black les paul style guitar set kneck 24 frets ebony kneck, thats the sustain beast great for feedback and those string through behind the bridge moments.

But my favourite is my s series z trem ibanez 60 -13 strings great for shredding.

Sorry no photos the camera has died and no amount of poking is seeming tofix it!

I've played for the last 15 years, currently got a les paul copper top limited edition and a crafter 12 string, but I have gone through a fair few of guitars bought and sold over the years

I play more acoustic and slide these days, a nice tanglewood acoustic and believe it or not an MM resonator!

how do you get on with your blues highbinder? what sort of stuff do you play? I like a bit of son house/mississippi fred mcdowell/howling wolf.

I've got a lightening myself mainly because it was shiny, great guys at busker guitars. have you changed the machine heads on yours? makes a world of difference!

You may have noticed I'm a lefty too, what a pain that is

Great thread!

Hey 1972, very nice. I had an American strat (which I also sold) that had one of the old style v profile necks. Loved that thing..

Yeah the guys at Busker were spot on. Got mine as a 2nd as there were two small chips in the finish. Originally I had it set up with 17s but they were just too heavy for normal playing, so I'm down to 13s now. Good to see another slide player. I'm big on, well... everyone! For the electric slide especially Canned Heat, Allman Brothers, Elmore James, George Thorogood and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac. For acoustic, guys like RL Burnside, Muddy Waters, Taj Mahal, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Keb Mo, Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, Tony McPhee

Been playing guitar about 4 years, and slide about 2. Not that good but I LOVE IT.

BTW, you got to check out these slides. I use one of the 3/4 length ones in cobalt blue. By far the nicest tone I've heard and the guy is a pleasure to deal with.

I'll have a look at those highbinder, not used a ceramic slide I use a brass slide mostly and a big lump of steel for the lap stuff.
I'm not man enough for 17s the 13s are plenty enough for me as I play chords on it as well.

I don't play the strat that much these days but every now and then I'll be on it for a month at a time, lovely guitars

Some good players mentioned there

I've just PM'd you

Aye the 17s tired my fingers way too quickly. I play mostly open D so thin gauge strings tend to flop about. Still getting to grips with chords in open tunings, the scales are starting to come together though :)

You should try his ceramic. I was a bit sceptical as I had tried a friends mudslide and another one, which were big (real thick) akward things which smash easy. His are stoneware which make them a hell of a lot tougher, and harder to scratch too. Real smooth tone.

I had an ironwood slide but I sold it on the bay as the inner diameter was too big for my finger. Didn't work so well on acoustics as it killed sustain a bit too much but ideal for electric as it kept the overtones in order.
