Any gamers on here?

I used to play a lot of DOTA 2 myself, mostly back in the day when I could actually keep up with the pace. My reflexes aren't what they used to be, so I get what you're saying about the cognitive load. It's wild watching some of the younger players juggle everything going on in a game like DOTA. I still enjoy the trading side of things now and then, especially messing about with different skins and seeing which ones are trending or cheap at the moment. If you’re ever curious about which skins or gloves are affordable for CS2 these days, I came across a pretty detailed guide on what are the cheapest csgo gloves in 2023, https://skinsmonkey.com/blog/what-are-the-cheapest-csgo-gloves-in-2023. It’s interesting if you like customising your setup without breaking the bank.

I have come to the realisation my bushcraft has just been LARPing the Eldar Scrolls.

Everything I know about plant ID I may have learned from a video game…. ;)

I swear the Gray Fox stole my tent pegs.

For the past month or so I've taken up playing Oolite again, after a long break.
Older members might remember Elite, a spaceship combat and trading game of the 1980s. Oolite is a re-imagining of the old game written (as its name implies) in modern, object-oriented code.

Elite: Dangerous is a fully modern version of Elite. Pretty spectacular looking game.

I've got an old Sinclair spectrum. Should be in working order too. No tape player though. I wonder if there's a way to get those old games for a pc or even phone / tablet? I've heard of emulators but I've never managed to get one working. Anyone know how to get the old manic miner, jetpac and Daley Thompson's decathlon onto a modern computer?

How about this browser based one?

If you go to File then you can search for games, too.

I bought that a while ago... on the condition i bought flight sim controls to play it with. I also play War Thunder, ( or did before Red dead 2 took ownership of my bottom) and want 1942 Sturmovic and Advanced combat simulator) I still havent bought the controls... so i still havenlt played Elite Dangerous... others are still a pipe dream.... Red dead 2 is where im at atm... You really dont wanna know how many hours i have in that since i buggered my shoulder at end of March.

This gaming thread is a bit frustrating - I have to rebuild my gaming PC and install a new disk drive for Windows 11 and I've run out of disk space for the upgrades needed on Elite and MS Flight Sim. I just can't find the hours at the moment :(

Take my computers name out of your mouth!!

Spectrum 48k... the only computer that was very nearly dishwasher safe with its sticky icky keyboard
( Not that we had dishwashers back in the 80s )
Had the Atari 2600 as my first. 48k with its grey rubber keys... Commodore 64 and Amstrad at the same time... I skipped the Amiga 500 because, being a clever little devil. ( gift for exam results from mum n dad). got the the Atari STE 1040 instead.... Golden dragon.. best game of its day..... Consoles... Well, 2600 as said, then basically all of them upto PS2... left the peasantry back then... became a fully accredited member of the PC master race... Not had a console since... My graphics card is bigger than the latest Xbox or PS...

Welcome to the master race... lol Need to spend a grand on building your own to be running latest stuff on lower settings. 2 grand, and you can run on ultra, for a year or two... 3 grand.... you got five year to save 7 grand

Which is sort of a counter argument for sticking with the Console train isn't it?. A tiered gaming platform.

Yeah... Hence the peasants lol... I know what youre saying though... Take Red dead 2 as an example... COnsole got it first... had it to them selves for a year.. at 30fps... Rated the best game ever..... by consolers, at 30fps.... Hits PC a year after.... 144fps for those with high end rigs... They didn't offer cross platform online mode... because what chance do the 30fps guys get vs the 144? They relased an update for console... several years after release... (when PS5 came out) that gave them 60 fps... now PC has 200+ on a medium rig and consoles are stuck with 60.

Its just so pretty.....A bushcrafters dream of a virtual world

I’ve got a different phone recently with more storage space than the last one. It means I have space to get call of duty mobile back on there!

These make it so I can actually play - attach to the phone and it’s essentially like having a console controller.

I know, bushcraft forum, long shot...

But have we? If so, what do you play?

I dabble with a bit of War Thunder, and Enlisted. Used to play World of Tanks, but its kinda rubbish these days.

Spent many hours irl playing with tanks and jumping out of aircraft, so its almost a form of continuation for me.

There must be a few proper keyboard/joypad warriors here. :D
Do you mean computer games or table top games? Because I do both lo.
Table top games I play chain of command second edition ATM. Also play test star wars shatter point for the publisher.
Computer games are varied, but right now civilization 6 &dark souls 3.
I also play turn based (mins one turn a day) on board game arina with a couple guys I know that moved over seas.

What kind of things are you into?
