Love it! What size bit, and how deep? Really into my Coffee at the min.

It was either a 30 or 35mm bit and about 25mm deep.
It was actually slightly easier to carve than a normal spoon once the bowl was drilled in as the sides were already smooth and not so much fiddly carving to join the bowl and the handle.

Just a thought HH. The point of the forstner is to guide the rest of the bit in. Maybe get a 2nd bit and grind the tip off and once you have started the hole with the pointed bit then use the grounded bit to finish the hole?

The other option is, if you have deep pockets. Trend make some (or at least used to) some flush point forstner bits in their Snappy range. When you drill holes for kitchen cupboard hinges the point didn't go through the laminated chipboard.
