Why are they selling locking folders to scouts? They'd be better off with a slipjoint or friction folder, or a fixed blade.

In the USA the Scouts are now strongly discouraged from carrying a fixed blade knife. Been that way for years I hear. Most use Sypderco or Benchmade now. When I was a lad we used the Official Scout fixed blade and hatchet. Times have changed.
BTW, for $45, even I can afford to bash around with that BG parang. If I don't like it much, it will end up in the back of the Land Rover for emergency brush clearing.
