I found this list very useful indeed! many thanks!

Though i'm still looking for a small (pocket sized) book on solely tree types and what they are good for.

The only one I know of is the Collins Gem, but it not very good on uses. You might be better going over to the Dump, and looking at the scout stuff.

Where the path takes me
Wow - impressive.

I do have a passion for books (as well as Bushcraft!) so my wife will now be cursing you as there are a few here I'll be hunting out. Is your 'Scouting for Boys' the six parts or the first full edition? I have a first edition of B-P's 'little red book' - Aids to Scouting (the smuggled through the Boer lines version). Great reading.

Thanks for taking the time to share.

Awesome collection mate.

I'm thinking about getting Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski plus the pamphlets he wrote. Would you recomend them?

Mors makes Meares look like Grylls.

Also was thinking about 98.6 degrees and Naked into the wilderness.

Info would be greatly appreciated.

A very excellent collection you have there, I have printed off the list and will go about trying to get hold of a few books (have them delivered when SWMBO is not home as I have alot of books anyway).

I might have to invest in a kindle so the collection doesn't take up all the space left in my house.

As you reccomended earlier in the thread I think I will order Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski and perhaps buy a book every couple of months and look through the second hand bookstores to see if they stock any books of this type.

Absolutely, I would highly recommend starting with Mors Kochanski's 'Bushcraft' and Pamphlets, my favourite pamphlets are "the two kilogram survival kit field manual" , " basic netting" & "the inuit snow house" I also like the "21 native wild edible plants"

Also was thinking about 98.6 degrees and Naked into the wilderness.

both excellent choices and all very different books by peope with very different backgrounds which is good, Cody is a student of Mors so you'll notice some similar approches but much of his stuff is new and original

thats how I started

Wow I thought I had a large collection!! Given your skills at finding great stuff. I wonder can you help. Years ago I downloaded a great little book about backwoodsmen. It had detailed info on everything about living in the forest. Felling, splitting. making a shavehorse etc. If you have any idea where I can find it again, could you please let me know.
Thanks

Brilliant collection Stuart, got many of the titles but some interesting looking ones to pursue. My pride and joy is a first edition Woodcraft by Ernest Thomas Setton although it never comes out into the field with me! Not sure what the author would make of that. Also not sure you are aware of it but I use a site called archive.org. loads of antique and rare books of interest to download for free, if you haven't seen it yet check it out well worth a look. Only wish I could be at the moot to see your collection.
Happy Trails
Mike

Just found a copy of Bushcraft by Richard Graves in a second hand bookshop. Hopefully I'll get a chance to read it tonight.
