    New feline family member!

Hmmm, We "saved" a cat from the street last year. Should be about 2 years old now. It looks awfully like yours.... Hope it doesn't turn out to be that big.... She's harassing our other cats allready, but at the least now the other 2 still have a chance.

    knife hygiene.

Hi All, When preparing food, I don't think I have to worry about any bacteria or virusses on the knife, as long as you cook the food after you cut it. Bacteria will be dead after that. Much as in the same way it is enough to just wipe your pots after use, as long as you use it to cook the...

    tarp mod

Hi Drew, i modified my previous tarp with extra loops, and didn't do any waterproofing, never seemed to be a problem. I don't think any water ever came through, but if it has, I must have lost it in the condensation somewhere. Just use the thinnest needle you can find.....

    Can of worms..

Hi, As beeing one of the people who could be considered to take to much kit, even though the extra kit I bring often just sits in the car. I would just like to point out there are some reasons which for me I find valid, as I'm sure other people have their own reasons. They don't mean somebody...

OK so I lost my Anorak and need a new one

OK just to let you all know.... I eventually decided to get a ventile from hilltrek, made to measure and in double ventile. It arrived last friday, just in time (half an hour before leaving for) the dutch bushcraft meeting. I've been wearing it for a week now, and at the bushcraft meeting...

    Folding saw

I have a folding saw I bougt for € 1,99 (should be about 1 pound 50). I've been using this for about a year, and it is not giving me any problems. I have used a laplander, and allthough it is nicer to look at, I find my cheap one actually nicer to use as it has an thicker handle. I think...

    New handle for this knife?

I would have to agree with the advise given above. Don't try to fit a new handle in one piece, but rather slice it. This way you can make each slice fit nicely and makes it possible to get some nice effects by using diferent materials. Sanding with very fine paper when the handle has been...

Anybody any experience with carinthia sleeping bags ?

OK but I'm concerned about buying a down bag, because everyone in the stores always say they are not for outdoor use here in the netherlands, because it gets to moist in autumn. Also the carinthia are the only ones I have found so far that do special bags for taller persons. And since I...

Anybody any experience with carinthia sleeping bags ?

OK here is the deal... I have some money comming in soon and am looking to replace my very bulky 5 kilograms worth of sleeping bag (dutch army) for something lighter. As I'm a big guy (about 2 meters and 120 kilograms) I need something with a lot of room. Also would like something nice and...

OK so I lost my Anorak and need a new one

OK so I justr heard I got a weekend assignment that will pay pretty good, so I've got some extra to spend and now am in doubt again between the norrona arktic, the paramo and something else I found, the hilltrek breamar. I read ventile is supposed to be very good...

    tarping up

Sounds like the problem I had the first time I used a tarp. In my case I needed a stronger line for the ridge line as it stretched to much.... Now I use some 7 mm climbing rope, pull it thight with a taut line hitch (both sides as I find the quick release knots come loose even better if they...

How to keep your billy clean?

When out in the field I just give it rub with whatever is at hand (leaves, grass, sand, anything really). It doesn't become spotless, but why should it. Do give it a thorough cleaning when I get home and it won't be used for a longer periode. Oh and off course clean everything very very...
