Anyway, heres whats happening....

There a massive solar flares ejection coming from the sun, its due in 2013. This ejection acts like a massive EMP pulse and has the potential to wipe out electrical grids world wide. This last happened in the 1800's but they didn't rely on electricity then.

The transformers that it will bust are already in high demand and their is a waiting list for their manufacture.

Some people think we will be without power for just a few weeks but in reality it could be months or years. Our entire society as we know it would collapse without power.

Just imagine what people will do when they wake up and their bank balances have been erased etc there will be rioting and anarchy.

If by some miracle this collapse doesn't happen then the next likely collapse will be a global financial meltdown as the corrupt ponzi banking system we live under does what it was designed to do.

The next collapse scenario would be oil running out as we are well past peak oil. Although I personally believe that this is a non - issue as the technology exists to not rely on oil but the patents are all in the hands of the oil barrens themselves. Thats business as usual for them.

Anyway just to warn you guys. I seriously think theres a big disaster coming and people with the skills and knowledge of the old ways will be the survivors in this.

I just hope when the new world emerges they learn to live in harmony with the Earth.

The way fuel costs are rising we(my family) wont be able to run our car soon anyway,certainly cant afford to buy a new fangled run on whatever jobbie,food's going the same way and allegedly the cut's have'nt hit yet, we are already seeing riots world over,and i cant say what i think about Bankers and there bonuses without fear of getting banned! BTW this is no conspiracy theory the sun flares are established science theres no debate if its going to happen or not. Also our transformers are not shielded against EMP. Look it up if you don't believe me, I encourage free thinking and research.

At this moment in time Humans could never destroy the earth, we couldn't even come close - sure we can mess it up a bit. But at the end of the day it'll pick itself up, dust itself down and keep on spinning - without us.

Also people should start buying silver now if they havn't already. It will sky rocket in value over the next 10 years. That will happen even without a collapse taking place and if a collapse does happen it will actually hold a value for bartering unlike the worthless fiat currency we all carry.

I'm going to knit my own yoghurt with plastic chopsticks and fight the ravenous hordes (if necessary) for the very last bunny in my area so that I don't go hungry.

Naturally all implements used in the "fighting off" process will be manufactured by my own fair (!!?!?) hands using the strictest bushcrafty protocols and wearing only the most suitable of bushcrafty uniform garments and thinking only the bushcraftyest thoughts.

It just wouldn't feel right otherwsie...

That opens up a serious topic of conversation.

In what post-collapse economy would silver be of value in, when the profitable market to trade it in has gone ?

It has no value at all until a very long time after the collapse is recovered from.

That's not meant sarcastically - I am always curious when folks raise the subject of precious metals and similar 'valuables'.

Any serious collapse would suddenly assign huge value to skill sharing (doctor, dentist, crop and animal farming etc), cooperation and the resources for immediate and long-term living (note my avoidance of the word 'survival').

It would be a very long time after a collapse is recovered from before silver would hold any value.

Imagine the scenario:

Hungry guy: "I'll give you a kilo of silver for that deer you're dragging back to camp"

Bushcrafter: "Bugger off stupid - what the heck am I going to use silver for out here ?"



All joking aside, my biggest fear would be when the thin veneer of civility that masks a human being's baser nature is stripped away. Any serious upset in what people view as the natural order of things would see people turn on one another in a second if it meant they could eat, ensure their ongoing survival and so on. I don't much care to be caught up in the middle of that

Yeah it would be utter anarchy for years before people got back to point of bartering. The military will rule as they are the best equipted group for survival.

For us civilians your best bet IMO is getting away from the cities, anywhere theres lots of hungy people there will be complete riots and killing.
