Mainly graphite pencil - sometimes a variety of pastel or paint media. I don't do enough consistently - typical jack of all trades, master of none :)
Rachael took up painting a year or two back. Acrylic, then moved to water colours more recently. Shes actually pretty good. Gets commission etc without even trying to get them. She did this a few months ago, whilst rather drunk, just sat there doing it on her knee whilst i annoyed folks online. Shes very good at painting light, imo anyway. Sunrises and sunsets etc

This ones Acrylic on canvas.

Thats skilled, but dont you have any smooth paper?
From my understanding, (based on being set right by Rach) smooth paper is the worst thing to use. Harder to create texture. There are certain types of paper for certain types of style. She has specific paper for watercolour, canvas for other paints etc...

Hi Fellow Wanderers, I’ve been bush crafting to one degree or another most of my life. I’m a Scout leader and I’m trying to pick up on top tips for getting a good edge on my Swiss Champ. Being left handed is a nightmare when it comes to sharpening tools! Am I better sticking to a carborundum stone?

I'm not sure if you were joking but I have cabinets full of different papers from A6 to A0, in textures ranging from silk to rough, weights from 80g to over 300g. Choosing the media to draw and paint on is part of the art process for me and can add (or distract, I grant you) to the overall feel of the work.

Nothing specifically new but ongoing projects...

Build workshop, this required planning which I obtained last year.
Cut and stack about 20 cube of firewood down from the storms.
Add a few more crops to the veg garden.
Get back on top of the squirrels on both my woodlands.
Use the 303 more (not related to the squirrels).
Back in the day i had a mk1 no 4 410 conversion, didn't use that for squirrels either !

My own photos wherever possible; this one from an owl at a country show. I'm currently doing a full-sized buzzard which is based on three different photos.
Great. I'd love to see the buzzard when it's done.

If you haven't already seen it, Edward Wilson's 'Birds of the Antarctic' is an excellent book. The sketches are really interesting.

I have the opportunity to take part in a 40 mile charity walk in a works team. I am totally unfit and for the last year or so I have led a sedentary life. So whilst I am thinking on taking part I am planning on trying to get fit. I have less than 17 weeks to get fit for the walk.

Beyond that I am looking to start a hobby of some kind and since I have been at my new job for just over a year I am looking at moving roles and hopefully stepping up a grade. That would mean more money for hobbies and family stuff, perhaps a move to a bigger house the next year.
