Hi all,

Looking for a pair of waterproof bottoms to throw over my trousers when the weather is orrible. Not looking for ex military jobs as I dont really want cammo. Need to be pretty hard wearing for kneeling and walking through scrub.
Might be a lot to ask I know but has anyone any ideas?

Looking to head upto the woods this weekend for a quick getaway and given the weather report I am going to need them.

They look pretty good thanks. Just what i am after really and dont mind green at all.
The store its self doesnt look too hot with having no contact telephone number. Will have a google about and see if anyone has them for quick delivery.

I've used the store a few times myself and always had brilliant service from them, usually quick delivery too.

I've got a pair of black Regatta over trousers. Had them since 2008 (think they cost around 12 quid) & have used them in all 4 seasons, dog walking, hiking & camping......no problems at all with them & reckon they have a good few more years left in them yet. Not breathable though, so there can be some moisture build up on the insides in warm weather. I took a size above my ususal so that the waist band is more comfortable & offers more room in the legs for movement & air flow.

I got a pair of Millets own Peter Storm over trousers, they saw me through last winter no problem, breathable, comfortable and they pack down nice and small too so take little space in a pack or bag

Had a bad experience with the brushed tricot style of those in the past. They "were" waterproof till I took them to the Lakes- they leaked like a sieve ;)

Cant remember which ones it is i have, if i walked out to the car i could find out though:), but never had a problem with them, rain, snow, sleet, hail, brush & bramble, they are still going strong to this day

The Regatta will do the job no problem, I use DPM Goretex but I've no problem with cammo gear, its so common down here you don't get a second glance wearing it (not that I'd care if I did).

Have you considered the ex police ones?

I,ve seen them here when I've popped in, think they are about £20, MVP / goretex type stuff. Same quality, hard wearing, breathable but in black. Come with braces.

My workmate uses them whilst on site in bad weather, I'm gonna get myself a pair as I don't mind wearing my DPM jacket but not the trousers as well.

:)

You could be in l luck if you have a "Tog 24" outlet near you. (Doncaster's Lakeside Village for me)

Just bought some today, Black but similar to the the army ones for £29.99, knocked down from £49.99.

Bargain for gore-tex type stuff !

MPV, like the army bivvy bags, you can't call it Goretex without the big man's (Bob Gore) approval so I gather.

Patents, imitations, blah blah blah

Who cares ? cheap trooooosers ?

:)

I opted for a cheap pair of regatta ones in the end. I rarely wear them unless I am traipsing through long wet grass or similar. The are "breathable" which probably means from the leg and waste holes but for £9 I am not arguing. They also weigh nawt and pack down to nothing.
