Just a small suggestion.As kids we used to make fishing reels from the plastic reels the line comes on. It did not need a handle as there were recesses in the side of the reels and you poked a finger in there and cranked. Got a blister once from a large carp.
Iff you mave a fingertip sized smooth and contoured hole-it could work, as well as making it lighter and more simple.
