First snow fell down here in Finland yesterday. I quess it is time to grab my skis and head north? :) Meanwhile we can start to speculate what kind of winter are we having during next six months.

I'll bet you do not have temperatures down to -8ºC / 17ºF. Maybe it is better to also get my furs out from the closet.

Not that cold here yet ! We have low cloud today, so I cannot see if the tops are still white, but there is more snow forecast above 900m.
People keep telling me that we are in for a cold snowy winter ! I'll just wait and see ! But the summer has been so bad that I did not put all my winter clothes away.
Enjoy your winter :)

Today is the first day when the whole of Finland have temperatures below zero celsius. Temperatures seems to range from -2,8°C/27°F at Mariehamn, Åland to -15,2 °C/4.6°F at Kuusamo. Maybe we will have white Christmas here after all!

Still nothing here.
Had a few days of frost, but now.... looks like a Dutch winter; grey, wet and just above freezing....

Yesterday afternoon about 14.00 hrs I was sitting on deck swigging tea in the sunshine, wearing jeans and 'T' shirt. The thermometer just inside the open main hatch showed 17 Celcius...A month to Yule..Ha!

It's pretty mild still here, jeans and a t-shirt is more than adequate still which is annoying and a lot of the trees still have there leaves.

I have just been up the woods harvesting blackberry canes for basket making - broke a sweat wearing combats t-shirt and a light fleece!
There are still blackberries in some places and down our lane there are dandelions in flower and primroses in bloom....
As it is our church Xmas fair on friday we can expect either freezing rain or snow - that happens most years and no-one comes out!
Guaranteed snow for Dec 8th - opening night of our Panto....

I squirrelled like fury until about a month ago, and suddenly the compulsion just stopped

I've got roses and raspberries still blooming and fruiting :D and I've just been bitten by a cleg :sigh:
20th November.....this time last year we were up to our backsides in ice and snow.

How goes it ?
Don't like the weather ? Hang on, there'll be another kind along in a minute

Himself says our weather's coming from the continent just now, and it's still blowing warm.....wait until that continental mass goes ice bound though :brrrr:

cheers,
M

Hoping for a good snow far in the North of England by the end of the month, Loved the challenge of camping in snow last year, -16 and 1 ½ foot of snow.

Nope, the weather here this day last year was pretty much identical to the weather today!

I remember it well, as my wee boy was born on the 23rd November, and with the wife's health problems etc around that time, I'm hyper aware of the days before and after the birth.

However, it got a little interesting towards the end of November to say the least :)

Lets just say I'm not putting those Swedish M90 cold weather trousers nor the new snow tyres down as a frivolous purchase just yet.

Standby M..I'm off to the woods for 4 days early tomorrow, so blizzards, Eskimo weather and an invasion of Polar bears is on the cards...
