I've just p!ssed about in the countryside all my life and somewhere amongst that I design critical parts for the hydro-electric generation sector with a bit of fossil and nuclear mixed in too. Can't stand the term 'bushcraft'.

Well i can't ever see me needing critical parts for the hydro- electric thingy , but if ever i lost my mind and wandered off the beaten track , i insist that Bushwhacker head the tracking/rescue operation, thankyou .

Not dissing any of the other occupations listed so far , just can't see a need for any of them , but you are all on the backburner , just in case !

So long as you've got a form of communication so you can relay your immediate surroundings. You know, gate, hedge, tree.....

Various careers over time including the househusband bit, last 5 years been self employed photographer (may as well count this as unemployed in recent times).

Prefered to live outdoors as I was growing up then came decades of work, work, work, then fortunate to have a near death experience and awoke from my stupidity and re-started my love affair with the outdoors.

ok i will keep it brief, tree surgeon and log merchant for years then bookmaker , video shop owner (until blockbuster blew that away !) landscape gardener (summer) lorry driver winter , and laterly estate manager whoo!.

Was lucky enough as a kid to have a wonderful dad ,who taught me loads about the countryside , then had loads of kids who were forced to do outdoorsy things , bit of crisis for a while then back in the woods like the big kid i am , wouldn't change a thing .

Much condensed version , for yawning purposes.

Now try and combine my love of wildcamping , with earning enough money to get by and getting as many people to share my beautiful part of the world as possible , lots of inspiration and drive from this site and the wonderful people i have met through it ! (wipes away tear !)

Subcontractor carpenter. More just want to keep myself interested identifying stuff whilst walking the dog than into bushcraft but if people need to hang a title on it I suppose that's ones as good any any other.

Ratcatcher, but also doing wildlife management. I specialise in Mammal control, especially invasive non-native species, which means I spend a lot of time out in the country, day and night, in all weathers. I use a lot of the methods of the old-time trappers (apart from actual traps, which have to be UK legal), so bushcraft skills are part of my job.

hmm mixed career here also never really worked in what i trained in i studied biology specialising in marine and plant ecology. First job i worked as an environmental specialist, then moved to cytogenetics and now in industry as an oil diagnostician.

I was fishing at the age of 4 with my dad at a private lake became my second home (spending upto 4 days per week there) which led to a love of wildlife and hence my choice of reading at uni camping fishing hillwalking plants wildlife and ultimately the brand name of bushcraft have just been part of my life so to speak. I am only ever truly happy either next to water or away from people in the wild (for a time not always as i love my family) i have a passionate interest in native cultures and often wonder where it all went wrong living in harmony with the environment. Everyone who knows me said i was born in the wrong era the truth is i get awestruck observing the natural world and hence my passion

I'm a charge nurse on an intensive care unit. I've always loved anything that gets me outdoors: climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, walking. I've been a Scout Leader for a few years now too. I also dabble a little in making my own kit and attempt a little carving every now and again.

I don't do bushcraft nor am I a bushcrafter. I'm just a hiker, camper & an observer of nature...

Interesting reading! I'm a 4x4 motor trader, trained in knitwear design & production and done nannying, photographic reproduction & processing, worked at a laundry (NOT Magdalens!), coffeeshop and generally not found my personal path to riches yet... but happy bouncing from one creation to the next which is why bushcrafting has become a passion having been a country gel most of my life :)

Teach CDT, was a WW Raft guide, Sailing and Climbing Instructor in the Alps and Scotland before that. I teach Bushcraft and Outdoor Learning inc. canoeing, kayaking and climbing. I run canoe/kayak and climbing clubs after school for the school too. Kids lives are complicated and very posession and consumerist just now. All I take outdoors thrive in it's simplicity.

Started as a Cub, Scout, Sea Scout, Venture Scout and leader.
