I was given one of the Light my Fire meal kits and the wee spice boxes as a present for my birthday recently :D

Thing is, there are a lot of them about since more than a few of us find them useful, and lightweight  and seem to favour the dark green/grey colour choice :sigh:

What's the best way to mark the bits of mine so that it says it's mine ?
I thought of something hot and melting a T or somesuch into the pieces, but I think that'd be really messy looking unless one was awfully good at that kind of thing.

cheers,
Toddy

Hot and pointy seems to be the best way Mary, marked plenty of stuff before for group stuff using a soldering iron. Usually just my initials or a number.

Maybe you could make a little stamp with the lost wax process for a neater job ?

I'd use a sharpie to be honest. But then I wouldn't be that fussed by the way it looked. I also remember my mum always used to put a dot of nailvarnish on the bottom of my camping gear so I knew which was mine :D

I take its the polyethyne type plastic?

nail varnish is good for marking all sorts of items.

as an alternative to burning, could it be engraved using an engraving tool?

I have an adjustable soldering iron with a fine tip...that could do a fairly neat job

I hadn't thought about the engraving tool. Somewhere, we have one of those. I think it even came with a little metal template for letters :D

Probably buried somewhere up the loft, but worth having a rummage for

Cheers folks :approve:

I have written my name in Tippex on many an item - plastic, metal, fabric - and it is horribly difficult to remove when I sell the items on!

I'd normally suggest permanent marker, but if someone is likely to "half inch" it, and it's plastic, permanent marker can be removed with Meths....a very likely thing on a camp-site!
burning...can go horribly wrong, though I've tried it and it works.
I'd go for Nail varnish, or Tippex.

for a quick solution at camp? use duct tape, it's waterproof so you can wash it, if someone was to remove the tape (to pinch it) it leaves an obvious sticky mess that can't easily be removed on camp and is obviously yours.

whilst I did army training it was common for some one to take our 58" water bottles to fill them with water from a delivered water container, I simply put red and yellow electric tape on them, easy to ID, and so they can be easily found if dropped in the dark.

also you could take said items to a "non-wobbly handed" professional engraver (the sort that make trophies)!

Tbh it's not it being pinched that's my concern but more that if I mislay it, or it ends up in the communal dishes, that some kind soul sees that it comes back to me.

I should have asked for the bright pink set :sigh:

Nah, I might be female but there are limits :D

cheers,

Jeez! I'm glad there's another one like me. Remember going to cub camp with red nail varnish name written on the bottom of my enamelled metal mug, plate and bowl when I were a nipper.
