What's the best way to mark plastic kit ?

I think Rap was saying Meths removes permanent pen / sharpie.
Like the look of the tough tags, but only good to wrap around things, not on flat surfaces.

I use paper clips, bent to whatever letters you want, and then heated in a flame (holding it with pliers). Obviously don't push onto plastic too hard or you'll have a letter shaped hole
