What have you learned since being on the forum?

Hi, i was told a little while ago, by a wise member on here, that i was new to forums and he was right!

So the things i have learned since my time on here are.

You won't agree with everyone (much as in life!)
Alcohol and the keyboard do not mix!!
Some people take a dislike to you, even though you have never met!
Learn to ignore certain posts, rather than get in to an arguement.
Re read your post/reply or preview post before pushing that button.
Don't let the odd member let you lose faith in human nature and kindness.

Probably more, but over to you guys.

Ivan...

You can't hear intonation and emotion in most of the written replies.
Patience is a very good thing.
There's always someone out to do themselves a good turn.
There are always hundreds who would do others a good turn first :)
Not everyone will like you, regardless of how courteous or helpful you may be.
Minds are like parachutes; they function very well indeed when open.
A secret is only a secret when no one else knows it.

atb,
M

I've learned an awful lot from this forum and have a healthy respect for the members and their experience and expertise.

The first headteacher I worked for always gave this advice to kids moving to a new school.

"Keep your ears open, your eyes open and your mouth shut!"

This could be easily be adapted to forum use.

I've found that there is always someone on the forum who knows more about something than I do: That's why I'm always happy to ask questions. However, it is important to remember that advice is only information to be be used to make your own mind up when making decisions.

Too much to list really. but mainly I've learned that I wish I'd spent more time traveling about the UK while I was there. Sadly that's true of everywhere I've lived.

Get out to Meets as much as you can, I have met some great people on them and consider them now close friends for life.

Maybe it's the Stalker in me. :p

Have a look in but don't spend too much time online, there's things to be done in the real world. Agree with going to meets as well, some great people out there doing things and good times to be had.

My Dad once told me. "99% of what your thinking. I thought of 20 years ago". This forum is like that. Whatever my problem or questions, someone, or more often than not most of you. Have had the same question, and solved it.
I've also learnt alot of people, myself included, don't come across on a computer screen, as well as they/or I, would in person.

I have learnt that all forums with a large membership suffer the same problems. I have been involved with several forums in other walks of life and this one is no different. We are all different and show this in many ways.
